Chapter 4: Loneliness and Friendship

Akane opens her eyes. The first thing she sees is a dark ceiling, a burnt ceiling. It took her along time to process everything.

"Wha-what happened?" she asked herself.

Just then all memories comes back. Her eyes widening in realization.

'Thats right there was a fire, then— then...SEISHU!' she frantically stood up, she went upstairs to her brother's bedroom. He wasn't there. She tried to find him everywhere but, he wasnt there. She walked downstairs, eyes unfocused.

Finally her eyes scans their place. She gasped,'Oh no no no no!!' her mind going crazy.

Her surroundings were full of burnt objects. Their couch, book shelves, tables, and even their family picture. Ashes from the fire were every where. Everything was burnt.

'Everything was eaten by the fire. But... Why am I here?'she thought as her head processed everything. Her eyes turns dark. She laughs bitterly as she realized  "Hah! Am I.. DEAD?" her voice cracking, tears starts to form then fall. She collapsed to the floor.

"*Hic! Why? Why am I still here then?"

If the movies and stories about ghost is true, then the only explanation she can come up with is that she has an 'unfinished business'. And she knows what that unfinished business is, 'FINDING HER BROTHER'. She remembers the time before she passed out, she prays to the Gods to save his brother. She wipes her tears with her hands. She stood up, clenching her hands. She's determine to found his brother, she want to know if he was okay. After that, maybe, her soul will move on and end this nightmare.

She goes out, passing through their door. "I really am a ghost." She whispers. She looks up, the moon meeting her gaze. It was night, she doesn't know what time it is or day/night it is. She looks around outside, their gate was also burnt, the metal was bent and was painted black because of the fire.

She was about to pass their gate when—

*BANG!

Akane stumbles back, her butt hitting the floor. "Wh-What the?!" she was confused, why cant she go through? She stood up once again, slowly approaching their gate. She spreads her hand, palms pressing against the gate.

'Huh? What is this?' there was an invisible barrier, preventing her from passing through. She tried to pass through the wall beside their gate. It was the same, she cant pass through. She went around their house and tries again. She tries to pass through every wall, but the barrier was still there.

She tried to kick, punch, push the barrier. It wouldnt budge, nor let her pass through it.

Akane was stuck. She doesn't know wht to do. Feeling helpess, she went inside. Sat on the floor, she burried her head in her knees. She hugs her body.

She cries alone, in the empty burnt house.

TAKEMICHI AGE 9:

Black hair swinging while skipping around his new neighborhood. Takemichi greets his new neighbors with the brightest smile that a 9 yr old could manage. Him and his Mother just moved here a few months ago, but he's still getting familiar in their new place. Though it was really far from his teacher's house. However, he has a bike so he can just ride it to their old neighborhood.

Right now, he's going to play with his new found friends.

"Hello!" the boy with blue eyes said to passing old ladies together with their dogs.
"Hello to you too little angel~" replied by one of the old lady smiling back to him.
"Oh my! Who's child is that? He so cute!" another old lady said.
"Careful now child,you might trip." another one said smiling.
"Thank you! All of you are really pretty!" the boy said, smiling with his eyes close.
"Awwww~" all of them cooed.
