"Shit. Slow down, slow down." Fred said to Nancy when he noticed the cop car not far.

"Just act casual." She said.

"And follow your lead. Got it." He said what she was about to say or was thinking.

She stopped and the officer came up to her car.

She rolled down the windows and tried to speak her way through.

"Hi, officer."

"Cant get through here. Got a crime scene."

"Yeah, um, I...I was just going to...Um... see Max Mayfield, a friend. She lives in here."

"We're restricting access to residents only."

"It's just, um, her mom is working today and we would really like to check in on her."

"We're basically her nanny. Nannies." Fred said.

The officer looked at Fred closely.

"Don't I know you?" The officer asked him.

"I don't think so."

"Yeah. Actually I do know you. You're Fred Benson. You killed that kid last year."

Fred started to get freaked out.

"What?" He asked, sounding scared.

"That ugly scar on your face. It's from that crash."

Fred started to think back, to the crash. And the fire, and the people that died.

"It was an accident."

The officers face was different, and so was his voice.
"An accident?" He asked, his voice was now distorted.

"Is that why you ran all the way home instead of calling us?" His pupils weren't there, rolled to the back of his head, and weird tendrils were on the side of his face. It looked burned.

"You're a murderer is what you are. Everyone here knows it."

The scar on Freds face started to open and rip, the officer kept repeating the words "murderer". He thought it was true.

His scar started to now bleed, and he looked down. The officers actual voice snapped him out of it.

"You all right there?" He asked.

"What?"

"I said, you all right, kid? You're looking a little peaked."

"Fine."

He looked up at the officer, Nancy and the officer both looked at him.

He broke eye contact looking down.

"I'm fine."

"He's just, Um, on edge. I mean, we all are."

The officer nodded in understanding and thought for a moment.

"I'll let you check on your friend, but be fast. Yeah?"

"Of course officer. Thank you."

She drove away and looked over to Fred.

"Okay, what was that? I said act casual." She asked. They had almost gotten caught, but luckily the cop didn't care very much.

"Yeah, it's just...sorry."

His mind kept going to the crash. It haunted him everyday.
