(Giant warning for some implied death, this chapter is a bit gruesome...)

"How... long... until we... reach the... top...?" asked little Puddles, out of breath walking up a small hill. The robin frowned. This wasn't going to work if the kitten couldn't walk up a tiny hill. Raven looked down, which wasn't really far.

"Really close. Just like you were at the bottom." said Raven, trying to hold back some of his sarcasm.

"I'm really trying. Don't get mad at me!" grouched Puddles. The anger made her push farther to prove to Raven that she's great. She made it to the top in 5 seconds.

"Nice, maybe I should be mean to you when we encounter a fox, Muddy." joked Raven, still only half way up the hill. He lifted his wings, flapping them vigorously until he reached where the little calico tabby stood. She turned to look at him in anger, hating how he had called her "Muddy" again. She was almost ready to tackle him, but Raven flew high up into the air, making him impossible to reach. Puddles didn't bother and faced the other way.

"What a view!" she exclaimed, mesmerized by the trees and pond nearby. Raven dropped to the ground and looked into the distance to what Puddles was missing.

"Yuck! Look at the view." said Raven, looking at the buildings, some with dark smoke coming out of, cars which also had the smoke coming out of them, and lots of people. Puddles looked beyond the natural scene to see what he was talking about.

"What's wrong with there? It seems pretty cool." Puddles asked. Raven shook his head.

"'What's wrong'? 'What's wrong'!? Everything! The creatures who made this place are disgusting. They ruined the world, filling it with dark, dangerous smoke and killing off plants, animals, and natural habitats to make room for their overpopulated civilization." Raven practically screamed.

"Oh... that does sound pretty disgusting." Puddles said. "But I do want to check it out." she continued, running towards the buildings. Raven stood there with a surprised and angry look for a second and then fluttered towards her. He made a raging chirp as he flew through the air. Boy, was the little calico tabby fast when she wanted to be. When he finally caught up to her, Puddles was in the middle of a street. Raven landed on the ground and stared at the kitten who had stopped in place. She was cleaning her now dirty paw. Raven looked around and saw a car coming right for her. He panicked, flapped his wings, and grabbed Puddles up in his claws

"OW!!! OW!!!! OW!!!!!" screamed Puddles, looking up at Raven. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Raven continued flying.

"I'm saving your life. That car- I mean... moving metal box could've killed you!" yelled Raven. He looked down at the moving vehicle, remembering. Visions of a robin's nest falling onto the road flooded his mind. The sounds of the cracking of eggs and bird bones. The feeling of the wind going underneath his wings, almost frozen in place. The emotions he never wanted to think about again.

"Oh... I didn't realize that, thanks..." Puddles said. Raven immediately stopped remembering those dark thoughts when she spoke, as he had almost completely forgotten about the world around him.

"...you're welcome... Raven responded. He put his head up, trying to ignore the streets below him and continued focusing on flying. He lowered down a bit when he reached an alleyway, not realizing a girl sat in there, all alone. Puddles noticed though.

"Ooh, a creature! Friend! Friend!" Puddles exclaimed, squirming around, causing Raven to drop her. Raven quickly swooped down to pick her up again.

The girl in the alleyway, named Lemon, sat on a crate, bored. She usually spent her evenings in the alley because of the darkness, the eerie feeling. She always liked the feeling of seeming, as what most kids her age would call, emo. She looked up, hearing the screech of a small animal, a kitten. Lemon was such a cat lover. It was falling out of the air. Lemon quickly stood up, attempting to save the kitten, until a robin swooped it up.

"BAD BIRD!!!" exclaimed Lemon, swatting at the robin. Poor Raven released Puddles at the power of the slap, and knocked him out of balance, leaving him to fall to the ground. Lemon had grabbed Puddles.

"No!!!" Raven exclaimed, recovering after the fall. He flew over to the human, doing the same thing he had done to the fox. Lemon was a little distracted, but not enough to let go of poor little Puddles. Lemon swatted at Raven again, pushing him back farther. But, she accidentally dropped Puddles in the process.

"Whee!!" Puddles squealed, falling, not knowing how much being dropped hurts. She landed on the hard ground, breaking one of her paws. She let out a huge scream of pain. "RAVEN!!!! I HURT MY PAW!!!!" she exclaimed. Raven immediately flew over to her, ready to pick her up and bring her back to a natural scene where he would try to heal her.

"No, you're not going to hurt this already injured kitten!" yelled Lemon, stopping Raven, not knowing he was going to help her. Raven tried to sneak past her, but she grabbed Puddles before he could, and then Lemon ran away. Puddles squealed Raven's name, trying to call for help, but when he didn't come into her view, she thought that he had given up, but that was far from the truth. Raven almost never gave up, no matter what. He flew, trying to rescue her. But Lemon was too fast. He ended up coming in front of Lemon, but when he attempted to stop and grab the little kitten, Lemon just slapped him out of the way. "STOP IT, YOU STUPID BIRD!" she exclaimed every time. After many attempts, Raven stopped flying and dropped to the ground.

"I- I failed. I failed as a guide." Raven said, nearly crying. A tear came out of his eyes, this was the second time he had cried ever, as well as the second time he had cried on a road.
