You deserve someone who loves you with every single beat of his heart, someone who thinks about you contantly, someone who spends every minute of every day just wondering what you are doing, where you are, who you're with, and if you're OK. You need someone who can help you reach your dreams and who can protect you from all your fears. You need someone who will treat you with respect, love every part of you, especially your flaws. You should be with someone who can make you happy, really happy, dancing on air happy. Someone who should've taken the chance to be with you years ago instead of getting scared and being too afraid to try.

Natasha Conklin was attached to Cousins Beach. Physically, mentally, emotionally, it was her haven. Maybe it was Susannah's house, maybe it was the killer sorbet stand by the beach, or maybe it was the person. The boy that Natasha waited all year to see. She was too blind to see it, but she was quite literally falling for the boy more and more every summer. But, as much as the girl didn't want to admit it, her sister got most of the attention. Perfect Isabel, Jeremiah Fisher's best friend, who had a raging crush on his older brother.

And they had the flawless sibling relationship, Tasha and Belly, Cousins' very own tornado, but having the same crush was not ideal at all. Hell, most of their fights revolved around the idea of the infamous Conrad Fisher, his perfect complexion and brooding figure.

Natasha just wanted to have a normal summer, free of drama and filled with surfing upon dawn and guitar around the bonfire. Both sisters swore off of getting involved with Conrad, but for one it was much easier than the other. Belly couldn't keep her eyes off of Conrad, regardless of the warnings and countless times the boy played with the loose strings of her heart.

For Natasha, it was simple: He's nothing more than my best friend. Conrad never looked at Tasha as anything more than a friend, and sometimes, she wished he stole glances at her, the way he looked at Isabel, the way he talked about her, the way he stared with his eyes dilated in love. It broke her heart into a million fragments hearing his late night conversations and drunken thoughts about her younger sister, hoping that one day those love letters and poems would be about her.

And her coffee shop walks and lazy afternoons wandering Cousins shores and kiosks were like small escapes from reality. The drugstore clips in her hair adorned her usually ordinary appearance, and the highlighter on her nose glimmered every time her face scrunched up in annoyance, and even when she laughed, like angels singing a honeyed melody.

To every other boy it would be like a forgein creature, curiosity killing them until they finally got to run their fingers along her thighs, their lips on her glossed ones. But to Conrad, she was just his best friend. Natasha always longed to be so much more.

One summer at Cousins should've been the same as all the rest. Except it most definitely couldn't be, because Belly was different now, hotter for lack of a better word, and Tasha was just there, as she has always been. Guess that's what happens when your younger sister decides that one brother isn't enough of her.
