"that's a stupid question mike."

he was almost caught off guard by her answer, but of course she didn't still play d&d, she's in college. "oh."

"cheer up mike, i'm only messing with you. you know how much of a nerd i am" she said, laughing.

"do you want to come to hellfire tonight?, my mom said you were back in town."
"um. come to what now?"
"right. hellfire is a d&d club i'm in, run by some freak eddie munson."

"eddie?" she said, her voice sounding surprised.
"yeah, you know him?"
"not personally, i guess, he was i think in the grade below me? his name was well known in school, not for the right reasons."
"not surprising, he still isn't graduated. but can you still make it? it would really be a huge help" mike was silently praying at this point.

"let me get this straight. you want me to come to some random location with this group called 'hellfire' and play a fantasy game with a bunch of losers, and apparently, people who can't graduate?" she was laughing the whole time saying it.

her words hurt mike, she was once friends with him, now she moved on.

before mike could reply, she spoke again.

"id love to."
