They waited. For as long as they could. And Stiles kept Lydia in his arms. By now, he was covered in her blood. But nobody was pulling him away from her. Scott tried, multiple times. But it was no use. The only person who was deciding when Stiles would leave Lydia was Stiles.

"Do you think she felt any pain? I like to think she didn't..."

"It wasn't Lydia, Stiles.. It still isn't Lydia.. Let her go now.. It's not safe to stay any longer." Allison knelt down beside Stiles, reaching her hands out to pull Lydia away from him. This time, he let it happen. His cheeks were stained with moist tears, and his eyes were bloodshot. Allison, with help from Scott, lifted Lydia up onto the bed. So that she could be at peace. Have a permenant rest. "Leave her now. Come on.." They'd been in the same positions for hours on end, watching Stiles hold Lydia, and they all knew full well this place wouldn't be safe for much longer. Stiles finally stood up, and wiped his eyes.

"Come on, then. Let's get outta here." Stiles flung his backpack over his shoulder, walking out of the room, with a heavy heart. The others followed. When it was a fight for survival, nobody could mourn for too long. But this was Lydia. And everyone felt empty after that.

The pack left the house, walking through the streets in groups of two or three. Allison and Scott, Isaac and Malia, and Kira, Chris and Stiles. Chris was helping Stiles to mentalise his emotions. He wasn't going to be able to fight and take care of himself in this state. When the rest of the pack was a considerable amount ahead, Scott and Allison had a chance to talk.

"So what did you find?"

"Not much... A few magazines.. Most of the house was empty. By the looks of it, you found a lot. Hey, let me help you, you have a lot to carry.." Scott took a few bags from Allison, helping her out by carrying some. "What exactly was in there?"

"A lot. I wish we could have taken more. If we had a car right now, that would be amazing. Or a bus... That would give a lot more storage space..."

"Well, they're hard to come by nowadays.. Working ones, anyway.."

"Yeah, I know. Sometimes I forget all of this has happened, you know. I just wake up one morning and think that everything is normal. How many have you killed?... I mean... I guess they're already dead, but.. You know what I mean."

"Not many. Two or three. But you, damn, Allison, you're amazing with a gun."

"Well, my dad taught me well. And being so skilled with a crossbow is handy, and I'm pretty good with aim. You, on the other hand.. well."

"Well? I have amazing aim. I only missed like.. twenty times.." Allison let out a light laugh at Scott's words, shaking her head afterwards.

"I thought it was more than that, but okay. You have amazing aim, Scott. And I mean amazing in it's most vague sense."

"Oh, really? Maybe you should teach me sometime, seen as you're some kind of sensei."

"I'll teach ya, Grasshopper." It felt good for Allison to play around with Scott like this. They hadn't had a chance to. They'd been walking a good four hours, hardly knowing themselves where they were headed. As the sun began to set, they found themselves in the middle of nowhere. "Guys, it isn't safe to be walking once night falls. Or out in the open. I think we'll need to speed up and find somewhere to crash for the night. Hopefully there's somewhere close, the sun is already setting. If we get going early in the morning, we'll find a town or city soon enough."
