OK, so we all know THAT screen.
You've worked hard on your story/chapters within...
You go to post it the first time, and the only tip/clue Wattpad gives you about tagging I'd that, "...It helps other readers on the platform can locate your story!"
But what they DON'T explain, is that the tags you do use are super important, and help you find your reader base.
Some ideas;
* if your story in any way relates to LBGTQ+, tag it that way. Is it bXb? gXg? This allows users of the platform to search for terms THEY want, and your story might be recommended in the list below.
*Tag the GENRE of your story
*Do your 2 MC have ship name? Tag that too.
*is it a location based story? Tag some locations
*Have you crafted a brand new OC (in the case of fanfics) that has a name? A power? A catchphrase? TAG. THEM.
So, for example - I've completed a Romance/Mafia story, based here in Melbourne. Some of my tags include;
(With a # before each word)
Rosalina,
JackJohnson
Aurora
TheonlythingtofearIsfearitself
Romance
Mafia
Family
Melbourne
Australia
Detective
Murder
Wattpad recommends a MINIMUM of 10 tags (if you're expecting your stories to be found, by ANYONE.
But 20 tags is the maximum, so what/how many you wanna do is up to you, personally.
