"Where you going?" One of them asked me. "To find a place for me and my sister" I said
"That's gonna be hard" He said laughing licking the wood to the point it was wet wet
"It's not." I smiled at him and turned around to make it to the door
"Will i get the chance to move in with y'all?..well you?" I knew where he was going with this
I just laughed and rolled my eyes walking out the door and saw who block i was on.

The cold breeze hit my face as I walked out the project building, Everybody was doing their own thing by shooting dice, blasting music, or just standing around talking.
"Yo!"
I just kept walking towards the exit not paying attention to anyone. My side was really sore from hitting the tree branch but i'll be just fine.
"Shit it's cold" My voice shivered and my hands wear shaking, I stood inside a payphone to call Meech because my phone broke. I was begging for him to pick up after the third call.
"Hello?"
I sighed in relief and wanted to cry "Hello! Meech it's Shay! My parents broke my phone and I'm over here on 63rd calling you on a payphone..can you please come get me" My voice started to crack as my side started to hurt even more
"I'm close by. I'm gonna be on my way"
"Okay..I'm gonna be inside this liquor store" The call had ended, I looked around making sure my surroundings were good
Ever since my brother got killed and my twin got locked up the streets been very hot especially since my father is a dealer. They have enemies all around but i've never came face to face with one of them or was bothered by one of them..they wanted me to be off limits but who really knows ?
"Do you have any change on you? I wanna by a pack of squares" A guy came up to me with very cold hands and very pale
"Yeah I have change on me— You're very cold and pale you shouldn't be out here in this weather your hands are freezing cold..when was the last time you had an meal?" I asked and he looked down
"Hey! It's okay! I'm gonna help you okay? My name is Shay" He nodded and told me his name was "James Arnold"
I gave him two hundred dollars for food ,gloves, squares, and told him to go to this location for homeless people that needs shelter
"I'm gonna be right here everyday to make sure that you're doing alright and been going to that shelter..okay?" I wanted to help James out and sing want him to stand in this Chicago Weather , He'll freeze to death!
"Thank you so much..you take care okay? god bless you" He smiled before walking away
After standing outside for eight minutes Meech finally pulled up. He got the car running towards me after seeing that i was gonna fall over.
He lift my shirt up "The fuck happened?!" His voice got loud and filled up with anger. "I'll tell you in the car..come on"
Once we got inside the car I seen a random girl in the back seat and the two of his friend's but I was in a lot of pain to even say something about her
"What happened?" He asked me but I stared at him and looked at the people that sat in the back seat that was also concerned by their faces
"We're gonna be late to your game I can take a pain pill" I laid back in the seat closing my eyes. Meech sighed and proceeded to drive to the location of the school or place were he was supposed to have his basketball game.
The car ride was quiet and short so i really couldn't get any sleep but the pain killer did some justice to my side I wasn't in that much pain.
"I'll meet y'all in dere" Meech told them and they nodded getting out of the car. I looked at them then went back to looking at Meech
"I had got into it with my folks.." He knew how it was in my household after Darnell passed away
"What happened?"
"Yesterday was the first day of school and my game day on the field. Nari was supposed to take me home but she left with some guy and you couldn't either so I walked home! you know how bipolar this fucking weather is It started pouring down like crazy"
Snow in August ?
"Y'all left me in the north by myself and couldn't even get home knowing I stay in the south so i got a ride home from someone. When i got home my parents started going off asking where Nari was at and i didn't know but i checked her location and she was Out west with the guy she left."
"When we got her and went back home my parents started tweaking and i was fed up and left so i jumped out a window and hit a tree branch"
"It's always yo fucking sister getting you into some shit! This not the first time she gotten you hurt!" He yelled and I couldn't say anything because it was true
Nari stayed getting me in position to get hurt like my feelings and other stuff. She's not the best sister but she's all i got left.
"and who is we? who took you home?" He also asked me he was confused and if i told him who he would lose his head, plus i didn't ask him who the girl was and where or who he be with
"Nobody but you should get going for your game" I said getting out the car holding my side
Meech was curious and was tried his best to not show any emotion so he just walked with me inside of the school building.
