"001?" you say, looking down at his head in your lap.

"Hmm?"

"You wouldn't lie to me, right?"

His expression sinks, and he raises to lay a peck on your nose, "Of course not," he chuckles.

"Okay," you breathe.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

He frowns, pulling out a tape from his pocket. "You're the only person I care about," he says.

He puts the tape into your walkman, placing the headphones on your ears. "No one gets you like I do," he murmurs. "You know that, right?"

You nod, letting his words comfort you.

His fingers hit the play button and a new song swarms through your ears.

"You know what?" you murmur, leaning into him as he wraps an arm around you.

"What?"

"I think I love you."

You feel the rasp of his chuckle against your ear, the heat of his words. Just barely, you hear his ever-deepening voice. "Of course you do."

"Huh?"

He furrows his borrows, repeating himself, "I said I love you too."

"And you'll never leave?"

"Never."
