Roe v. Wade

Today was a normal day,
Until I got to work and saw the sadness,
The outrage,
The worry.

And for me, I felt the numbness.
I felt the despair when I saw yet another comment
That used the Bible as a shield instead of reading it.

They did nothing when disease stopped us cold,
And left thousands penniless.
They did nothing when the all the formula was sold,
And left children ravenous.

They did nothing about the children being shot,
Besides 'giving a prayer',
They did nothing to help Mother Earth,
Leaving our future children to choke on filthy air.

So I suppose I wasn't surprised.
Just numb.

And I remember what my father told me:
When there's no food,
The poor have no choice but to eat the rich.

When there's no money, no food, no shelter, no protection,
I suppose I also won't be surprised
If there's a war by next election.
