(Tw: PEOPLE MEAT!! demon disguised as human vendor secretly sells human meat to public market from under market. red son eats it. for red son in this fic, i wanted him to have a little more of his journey to the west attribute's and having him being like other demons, eating humans, was one of them, so i'm using this for some type of affliction in the future. if you do not like this then when you see red son going to a food stand DO NOT READ IT!)

I had left the palace just a bit ago before running into Mk, the exact person I had planned to see.

I hadn't expected to see him so soon after realizing he was still with Sun Wukong at Flower Fruit Mountain training.

I ran over to him, a little out of breath, leant over with my hands on my knees to catch my breath. Then I stood up straight gleaming, "Hello, noodle boy."

Mk stared at me in disbelief. Did he not want to see me again? Had I made a mistake? I thought he wanted to from how fun our trip was today to find my ship.

"Your here??" He finally spoke up, and I saw the sparkle in his eyes. I was not wrong.

I nod, "Yes, of course. Er- where are you going so late at night?" I examine him for a second, barely having any light to see, but then I realize the monkie boy is not wearing that normal red ribbon around his forehead. He looks weird without it, since I see him with it almost all the time when we keep visuals on him. "Where is your ribbon?"

Mk whined, pushing back his hair. "Gone!! I lost it while training with Monkey King, and he disappeared after training so if he has it then I won't have it for three days." He rambled, "So I'm going to get a new one."

I squinted, grimacing at the mention of his training with the Monkey King. There was something about the training sessions I had to keep to myself from asking. It was about Sun Wukong.

I know for a fact that immortal monkey was not right in the head, but currently when i decide to watch their sessions, he's even more off. It's hard for me to get to the mountains, so I rarely do it upon my own will. But sometimes, my father will ask me to . It's weird.

"Oh, well, mind if I tag along? I snuck out again and I'd love to spend that time not getting myself hurt again. We can head to the market." I place my hands into my pockets. Speaking about pain, I still hurt a bit, but demons mostly heal fast, so I'm pretty fine.

Mk laughs, immediately ridding of his upset mood. "Sure, it'll be fun. Do you always sneak out? Aren't you, like, my age? Shouldn't you be able to leave?"

We start walking and he immediately gets annoying by asking questions, I roll my eyes, looking away to glance around the dimly lit city.

"That is true, but they worry about me doing crazy stuff so they don't allow me to go out unless they are aware of what I'm doing. Mostly my mother, she doesn't want to lose me." I pause, sighing softly, "I think my father doesn't want to lose me either."

I can hear the worry in Mk's voice, "You think? Wow, Red. I mean," he turns his head away from me, "I can go anywhere but I have to check in with Pigsy. Sometimes Tang."

I suddenly realize Mk doesn't necessarily have any parents and I cringe for bringing parents up like that, especially when he spoke about Pigsy and Tang. I look to him, and I couldn't help but ask "Are they like your parents?"

Mk practically chokes on air, placing a hand on his chest and looking at me through his messy bangs, "I- well- I mean. I don't know about their liking to being called parents but I do see them that way... I guess." He stammers, messing with his hand and fidgeting with his fingers.

I couldn't help but laugh, "It's fine, noodle boy. I don't care." We look away from each other and suddenly it's awkward silence, and I wondered what he was thinking after that. I must've embarrassed him to shut him up enough.

I felt a little bad, but eventually the market came into view, only a few stalls were open since it was so late. I point to tell Mk we're almost there, and he breaks out into a grin and challenges me to a race.

At first he takes off without another though and I just stand there, narrowing my eyes at the idiot running. I decide it wouldn't hurt, fire flaming below me as feet wheels. I step onto the flames and in the next second I was out front the market, sliding to a stop as the flame lit out.

Mk stood there in front of me with his jaw on the floor, "Wha-?!" I give a dramatic bow to irritate him, a smirk on my face. "What?! I didn't say you could use your p- you know what, Nevermind." He groaned, stomping into the market like a child.

I snicker, following up behind him while flattening down my jacket. "Where're we going?" I ask while I walk beside the pouting Mk, who sprung up after a moment of sulking, glancing around.

I couldn't help but look around the bare market as well. There was this place near my own home like this, that'd be full of demons at this time of the day. It isn't very safe though, since it is the undermarket.

"The fabric store if it's open. I don't come here much since Pigsy and Tang do the shopping normally." Mk says, stuffing his hands into his yellow pockets. "I have no idea where it's at."

I don't reply because my eye catches on a stand that smells absolutely delicious. What food stand would be open so late? I walk over, hearing Mk question the silence from me.

"Hello, kid, what can I getcha?" Speaks a raspy voice from behind the stand, a tall man appears. Mk walks up beside me, scrunching his face at the smell. It must've been only me.

"What is this?" I ask, examining the meats laid on trays. I wanted to eat it.

"Meats from animals. Good animals." The deep voice spoke again, picking up one long strip with a utensil. "This ones spicy, you look like you like spicy."

There was something about this man that sent shivers down my spine, and I placed a hand on Mk to move him back. I still wanted it. I pull out some money and realize how overly expensive it is. I don't care, I hand him the monkey and he packs up the strip of meat, handing it to me.

I thank him. Mk still looked grossed out, beginning to already walk away. I walk away more slowly, inspecting the delicious looking meat. Then I realize, stopping dead in my tracks.

My head shots around, turning to see devilish eyes staring back at me from the shadows of the stand. A demon.

I look back to the meat and my heart sinks. Human. It is a human.

I glanced to Mk in fear, hoping he hadn't noticed it. Does he even know that demons eat humans? Maybe they think it's just a fairytale thing. But I still can't help but drool over the delicious smell.

I've eaten them before, I am a demon after all. But I haven't in years, maybe that's why I longed the meat so much right now. I quickly ate it before Mk could notice me lacking behind, throwing the package away and running to catch up with him.

I felt a guilty looking at Mk in his still happy mood, but my demon nature says it was so good.
