Crusing through old familiar roads,
pretending to stumble upon something new.
An excitement would surge up her spine,
at the shiny, at the bright.

Wishing to touch the grass beyond her cage,
with her arms stretched wide.

Absent complains were not my only concern,
as she'd climb up the only tree.
A squint of the eyes and a little focus,
watching the only world she's known to be.

Open gates, squeaking at the corner,
oh but she'd never leave.
Stretching her arms beyond comfort,
I don't know what to feel.
