Before Shen Qingqiu was the face that would, in the future, infatuate everyone who saw it from eighty-year-old women to infants still in their swaddling clothes, the Gary Stu protagonist’s face—and he’d beaten it to this extent?! He was dead!

Luo Binghe really hoped that he wouldn’t have to listen to Shizun fear him for the entire time. He wanted to believe that Shizun had cared for him. That the expression on his face as he pushed him was only temporary. Then he remembered the way that Shen Qingqiu had fled from him. To his despair, the man’s fear had only grown.

Qi Qingqi sat in confusion. She had been introduced to some many new and odd words. “What’s a Gary stu?” She looked over to Shen Yuan who blinked dumbly for a moment.

“Oh- um… It’s basically a character that only serves to overpower everyone. The plot basically exists to help them instead of challenge.”

Qi Qingqi nodded. Characters like that sounded lame.

But even though his face bore clear evidence of abuse, the protagonist was, as expected, still the protagonist. Luo Binghe’s two eyes were as bright as morning stars—a tender shoot of a handsome young man. That pencil-straight back and stance, evincing a proud core that would rather break than bend! The underlying hardware of this protagonist’s halo of excellence was really too much—he almost couldn’t hold back!

Liu Qingge grimaced. Such overt praise! How can he keep a straight face while thinking like that!? While he could acknowledge that there had been a large personality shift, but the man still maintained a lofty persona. How does the fanatic behavior of a young adult line up with that? He took a second look at the man. His face was undoubtedly more open now, but that was just in the way he was completely red with embarrassment. That was probably the most emotion he had ever seen on his face since his weird ‘shidiii’ speech during his deviation.

Shen Qingqiu’s mouth twitched as he watched Luo Binghe limp through the door, then struggle to kneel. I can’t afford your submission—if you pay respects to me today, you are definitely going to kneecap me in the future.

The peak lords grimaced at the sight of the injured boy. The abuse the original peak lord handed out to the boy always made them uncomfortable. Said boy meanwhile shifted his gaze from the screen and mumbled just loud enough for Shen Yuan to hear, “I wouldn’t ever hurt Shizun like that…” Then before Shen Qingqiu could do anymore than just blink, he turned away, not wanting to see any hint of rejection.

Shen Yuan could only think of how that made no sense. Regardless of whether he stopped the abuse or not, he still betrayed the boy. He was still there over that sent the boys to hell. Why wouldn't he want revenge?

“No need.” He stopped the boy and with the flick of his wrist, he tossed over a small bottle. With a mocking tone he said, “This is medicine. Don’t let anyone see; they might think my Qing Jing Peak abuses its disciples.”

Qiu Haitang raised a brow at how seamlessly the stranger slipped into his role. Qi Qingqi nodded, impressed. “You got his time down pretty well and still managed to help. Good.” Shen Yuan would not admit that he preened a bit at the praise.

Shen Qingqiu had assumed his role quickly and made a daringly subversive move to hand over the medicine but did it with a nasty attitude so that it remained in character. When the system didn’t call him out for OOC, he let out a sigh of relief.

Luo Binghe froze but respectfully received the medicine and gratefully said, “Thank you for the medicine, Shizun.” At this point the boy was still the picture of innocence, his smile was sincere and gentle like the dawning sun. Shen Qingqiu stared for a while before turning away. Prior to his darkening, this male lead’s personality was that of a model and upright youth. It would have not have been an exaggeration to call him a little lamb.

Liu Qingge blinked slowly. ‘Little lamb’? That clingy brat? Truly his shixiong was biased towards his favorite disciple. He risked a glance at the ‘lamb’. The demon’s ears were slightly flushed and Liu Qingge rolled his eyes, huffing. Annoying.

“This disciple will henceforth redouble his efforts and not let Shizun be disappointed,” Luo Binghe happily continued.

Eh, no, if you redouble your efforts, I’m guessing your original master would really be disappointed…

Shang Qinghua agreed. It was the disciple’s giftedness that frustrated his teacher. A resentment for those that have it easy.

If he hadn’t read Proud Immortal Demon Way, he might’ve wept a couple tears in sympathy for the disciple. So, he’d been subjected to Luo Binghe’s colorful thoughts post-blackening.

He would wear the mask of a kind and humble gentleman inside, all his thoughts would be about how he’d rip out your tendons, pull out your bones, peel off your skin, and hang it all out to dry.

Luo Binghe wondered how he dejectedly slam his head down on to the table while still maintaining propriety.

Luo Binghe smiled. “Today, the humiliation this disciple once suffered will be returned one hundredfold. For injuring my hands and feet, I’ll tear off your limbs and grind them to dust. –Proud Immortal Demon Way, selected passage #2

The present Luo Binghe grimaced in disgust. He knew he was capable of violence but how bad must it have been to treat his Shizun this way? Though he supposed this other version of him had never gotten the kind Shizun. That possibility scared him.

After that, he had actually carved Shen Qingqiu into a human stick. “Binghe, how’s your cultivation progress?” Shen Qingqiu asked in an aloof tone as he sat in a sandalwood chair. The name alone sent goosebumps down his back.

Luo Binghe could close his eyes as he witnessed the fear of the person he held most dear.

Yue Qingyuan meanwhile started at his hands with a cold anger, reminding himself the Luo Binghe in front of him, had never hurt Xiao-Jiu.

Luo Binghe also shook with a shudder but still said with a shy smile, “This disciple is stupid and still...failed to understand.” That was about right. With a fake cultivation manual, the fact that he hadn’t suffered a qi deviation yet was a miracle, thanks to his protagonist-level durability. Boy come hang out with me! This teacher will lead you to right cultivation techniques!

Qi Qingqi paused. “Wait- FAKE!?” Liu Qingge grimaced as she shrieked into his ear. There was a collective flinch as Qi Qingqi slammed her fist on the table. “Who in their right mind would give someone a fake manual!? That's pure sabotage!” Yue Qingyuan frowned. Would Xiao-Jiu really do something like that? He knew that he was spiteful towards his disciple but want that too far? Near attempted murder?

“Did Shen Qingqiu handle passing out manuals?” Liu Qingge asked.

While Shen Yuan only shrugged, Luo Binghe said, “This one remembers Ming-dashixiong bring the one to pass them out.”

Mu Qingfang hummed. “So there's a possibility of him not knowing.”

The system let out it demonic warning sound again. ‘I was only thinking about it! Of course, I know it’s a violation!’

Mu Qingfang couldn't help but chuckle at the childish sarcasm. It was just so different from expectations.

“Today, this master punished you out of impatience. Time, after all, waits for no one. Now that I think about you’ve been under me for a while—how old are you this year?”

“This disciple is fourteen.”

Eh, fourteen? That means the punishment of Luo Binghe having to kneel at the mountain entrance had already passed. And when he was pummeled by his fell Qing Jing disciple en masse. And when he “backtalked” his Shizun and was strung up and beaten. And when he’d ruined the peak’s talismans and received hard labor. Shen Qingqiu rested his head in his hand and waved the disciples out. “I wish to be alone.”

Qiu Haitang cocked her head. “How do you even remember all that?” If there book was really over six thousand chapters long, wouldn't those details get lost in the mess? Remembering the beginning should be next to impossible.

To be honest Shen Yuan had no idea how his memory worked. “I have no clue.”
