The surface is going through a lot the nation's armies are fighting thousands of aliens as they are exterminating all of Earth's inhabitants

I got up on my feet my legs no longer aching as I grabbed a few things before heading to the surface and changing into my military wear as injured soldiers were raring to go after getting the all clear hearing thousands of fighter jets and helicopters fly over head "ATTENTION CAPTAIN ON DECK" a voice yelled as the non injured saluted towards me as I walked past
(Soldiers POV 3rd person)
They couldn't believe a member of the rebellion was fighting with them but they've seen everything besides more rebellion fighters were coming "as you all know we are fighting for Earth's freedom so we must stand high and strong for our loved ones our families and our friends we will win this war" they cheered at Captain Skywalker's speech they loaded up tanks mounted jeeps and speeders
(The battle zone 3rd person narrative)
As the reinforcements arrived they started to push back the invaders to the big cites X-wings fighter jets and helicopters flew overhead as the missiles struck at the aliens own arsenal as they started to get overwhelmed by the amount of evolved monkeys fought with mobs of all kind and shot down by bullets and arrows the invaders launched all their fighters blue Lazer bolts shot at one tank and ships the autobots arrived with a lot more armoured reinforcements "CHARGE!" Neve yelled out as every single fighter soldier mob and rebel fighter pushed forward making the invaders retreat with thousands of their own dead when they launched orbital strikes upon the surface but were destroyed by the rebel fleet's ships up in space the aliens realised the planet was of no use to them if their forces were being swatted by Earth's resilient and dominant species:
'humans'
