HAFSOH'S POV
After what seems like forever, the number of guests reduced. So my mother inlaw told me to go to our room and rest . I was pressing my phone when I heard a knock on the door, I'm not familiar with the house yet so I locked it from inside because the last thing I want is to be barged on by a male who's not my mahram ( people that can see you without hijab in Islam). I wasn't surprised to hear a knock because I know many people will still come so I put on my hijab and opened door only to meet my lovely husband there smiling. I banged the door on him and went back inside to continue my business. He came in immediately I left him on the door and he tried to talk to me severally but I ignored him completely in which he finally gave up. He told me to pack my things that we're going to his house after asr ( prayer that the Muslim observing around 4pm). That made me happy even though I didn't show it. Don't get me wrong, my in-laws are nice people especially my mother inlaw whom have decided to be addressing as mommy but no house can never be like ones own. Yeah I understand the house we're going to is new to me but I'm ready to make it mine and I'm sure I will be comfortable there. I dropped my phone and started packing my stuffs while Abdulrohman was busy pressing his phone. He looked angry which made me feel bad and stopped packing. I move closer to him and asked him where he went to since morning without telling me. He asked whether that's why I banged the door at him and I said yes that i was annoyed because he left me all alone when he knew I'm new here, I Know you don't have the right to tell me before going out but I was worried and I think that's the best thing to do. He looked at me then said he's sorry that he doesn't want to wake me when he was leaving that he will leave a note or send me a text message that it won't happen again. Then I asked if everything is alright because it's the second day of your nikkah so wherever you might have gone to must be important plus you left very early in the morning. He told me to sit down and explained that he went to check on Ummu Aisha because her number hasn't been reachable since yesterday afternoon. I felt jealous that he left me to check on her but I reminded myself of the fact that I'm not here to take her place cause I know I can never replace her. I told him that's okay so we ended up packing together.
We left the family house after asr as planned with Aisha and Abdulroheem. We got to my new home around 5pm. The house isn't far from the family house. It's just like 15mins drive with all things being equal. The house is a twin flat joined together by a big parlour. Each flat has it own parlor apart from the big one and u can enter the second flat through the big parlor without exiting the house. Each flat also has it own door apart from the main one that leads to the big parlor so we entered through the small door that leads to my own apartment as instructed by my husband. After I have settled in, he excused himself to go and drop the kids with their mother and I told him to allow me follow them as well which he declined saying she's the one that supposed to come and greet me first. I love my new house to be honest and i guess they just repainted it because it's looking new, I know it's not that old, my husband said he built it two years ago though it was renovated because of me. After they left, I changed into one of my short gowns and decided to watch some reels on Instagram while waiting for my husband to come back._________________________
ABDULRAHMAN'S POV
She banged the door immediately she saw me and I know I must have done something to upset her. After many attempt of making her voice our whatever it's that annoyed her, I decided to let her be. I know her very well, she can't keep grudges so I sat down on the bed pressing my phone while waiting for her to spill whatever it's which doesn't take long. We sorted out the issues and we packed our stuff together including my kids own. Some of the things I love about her is that she doesn't hide her emotions, she always come out straight, she says whatever she has in mind and once you offend her she will tell you immediately. She's someone that goes for what ever she wants, another thing I realized about her on our wedding night is that she doesn't compromise her comfort over anything, she proved this to me when she changed her nikkah clothes into one of her pajamas ( which consists of a armless top and above knee length trouser) immediately we completed the Sunnah of the newly wed. When I asked whether she's not shy of me she said " why should I be shy when I'm sure you will see everything soon moreover you've paid my mahr ( dowry) so you're no longer my mahram. I became speechless due to her response, there and then I knew I'm in trouble in a positive way though.
Back to the present, after dropping her at her own side of the house, I took Aisha and Abdulroheem to their mother side, their mother wasn't in the room but I was hearing sounds from the toilet so I guess she's inside the bathroom. I took the kids to their room and changed them into a comfy clothes before taking them to the sitting room. Abdulroheem has started his Qur'an memorization, so we started reciting together. We were at the second surah (chapter) when their mother came in smiling. She sat beside me and placed her head on my shoulder while reciting along with us. We finally stopped after the second surah. I asked Ummu Aisha how she's faring she said alhamdulillah ( glory be to Allah). After a little chit chat. Honestly speaking it been long we had a chit chat, ever since I told her about my intention of taking in a second wife, things has changed in a negative way between us. We used to be so close but I'm glad she's coming around so things are becoming less awkward now. I told her Hafsoh is now in the second flat and I will be happy if she can welcome her as co wives. I then asked if she will like to go and meet her now, immediately I finished the sentence her smiling face was replaced with an annoyed one. She looked at me angrily and said
"I'm not going to go and greet her first, I'm her senior wife so she should come here and greet me, moreover I have been meaning to tell you that she will be the one to be cooking for us all henceforth and she should address my kids with honorifics ( a traditional in Yoruba land was new wife addresses every children he met in her husband house with either sister/brother in respect to their gender).
Angry is an understatement to describe how I feel after her words. Well I told her she's never going to do any of those things so she should prepared herself because she's a co wife and not a slave moreso she's like a mother to my kids so that honorifics is never going to happen. I was planning to stay in her apartment till magrib period but her response made me leave immediately. Here I was thinking we're going back to the good days, guess I was wrong.________________
