Web-Crawler was only a sparkling during the Decepticon-Autobot wars on Cybertron. His Carrier, Arachnid was a Decepticon scientist and his Sire, was a Decepticon general who died in battle against the Autobots. His body was designed to be a spider-like weapon, capable of climbing on walls and ceilings with ease, and using his razor-sharp legs to attack enemies.

Arachnid worried for your youngling's safety, knowing that the war was coming to a head. She designed a device that would allow Web-Crawler to enter a state of suspended animation, preserving his spark until the time was right for him to awaken. The device, shaped like a tiny glowing orb, was attached to his back, and as the battle raged on, Arachnid placed Web-Crawler in a hidden escape pod, set the coordinates for the Earth, and activated the device.

Eventually, the pod crash-landed on Earth, its systems damaged from the rough landing. For many years, Web-Crawler laid dormant, his spark preserving his life force within the tiny glowing orb attached to his back. As time passed, the planet evolved around him, and he remained hidden, undiscovered by any of its native species.
