The cries of a newborn baby echoed through the hospital room, as well as the panting of an exhausted woman. doctors were scurrying all across the room, reaching to clean the baby and tend to the new mother.
A far off look of desolation was visible in the woman's dull eyes. She fought off sleep as she held her newborn in her arms, laying her head back on the pillow below her and letting out a loud exhale.
As expected, her husband was nowhere to be found. The vacant room left an empty feeling in her chest as she looked down at her child, y/n l/n, once more.
