After breakfast dinner they took the dogs for a walk at a park close by. Lexa found Clarke a woolly beanie, since a damp chill hung in the October air. When they arrived back at the house, they started a fire and snuggled on the couch, surrounded by fur babies. Milo had his head on Clarke's feet, while Yogi lay on the couch, nestled against her. Both kittens lounged on the back of the couch behind their heads, purring contently.
Clarke reached for the picture book and paged through it. "I still can't believe it."
"I know."
"My Lexi. I mean, it's crazy. It's almost impossible."
"It's fate. We were meant to be, like soulmates."
Clarke stared at the heart she drew so many years before. "It was over twenty-five years ago. We met over twenty-five years ago." She traced a finger over her handwritten Lexi inside the heart.
"I've had déjà vu so many times. Ever since I picked up Oliver that day. It was eerie. Like the universe was pushing us together." She leaned down and nibbled on Clarke's earlobe.
"Let's frame this and hang it on the wall." Clarke placed the book down on the coffee table and picked up her mug of hot decaf tea. She sipped and became pensive. "I guess I'm homeless now. No way Finn will let me stay at the house anymore."
"You don't have to be homeless." Lexa said, with hopeful eyes and a wiggle of the brow.
Clarke smiled. "You're so fucking adorable." She leaned and placed a chaste kiss on Lexa's lips. "Are you suggesting something?"
Lexa shrugged. "Maybe."
"I love you. I love you so much. But I think I should rent my own place. For just a little while. Don't forget I have Jinx."
"Oh, the killer. Yeah."
"It's hard to bring a new cat into a house. Might take some patience. And then there's Oliver. He's Finn's dog. But I want at least shared custody. That'll be a tricky situation at first."
"Give Finn some time, he might surprise you."
"I hope you're right. I'd miss that goofy dog. Even if he ate my favorite wallet. Anyway, I could look for a place nearby."
"Hm. I know of an empty spare bedroom. It's kinda close by."
"Really?"
"Uh-huh."
"Where?"
"Right down the hallway."
Clarke giggled. "You're funny. No, I need to get out on my own. For a bit. We can take our time with each other, you know what I mean? We can go on dates, and do other things-"
"Other things? I like the sound of that."
"Like slumber parties-"
"Slumber parties are awesome."
"I always say, there's nothing better than a slumber party, minus the slumber of course."
Lexa laughed. "Is that what you say?" She grabbed Clarke and pulled her close, kissing her tenderly. The kiss became more passionate as mouths slanted open and tongues pushed in. Lexa pulled Clarke onto her lap, tucking Clarke's legs around her waist. Hands found their way under the soft blue hoodie and onto bare skin. The silky feel of Clarke's back made Lexa's panties moist.
Clarke broke off the kiss as her hips started moving on their own. "God, what do you do to me?"
"Anything you want." Lexa's hands slipped below the waistband of the sweat pants and squeezed Clarke's ass.
