" Y-....you're lying!" Gloriosas voice cracked as tears spilled over her eyes. Alma's eyes hardened.
" I'm not, Gloriosa.. The candle is gone."
Your mother stared a Alma as tears leaked down her face.
She let go of Alma and fell down to the floor as she cried out.
" I-it can't be.." She said between sobs. Alma looked down at your mom on the floor with sympathy.
Meanwhile, you were dumbfounded.
" You mean...ever since I came to the Encanto...there's never been a candle?" Your voice cracked as you asked Alma. The elderly woman set her lips in a thin line as she nodded. You glanced at your mother. You glanced at the room about you. Then you turned back to the door. All the Madrigals seemed to be awake now, and were trying to get in. It seemed like Luisa was about to break in.
What should I do? Should I help my mom, and we make a run for it, or should I face the consequences of my actions?
Then you had a thought.
An idea.
A plan. One that could help everyone and fix everything. You faced your mother, who was silent as she crouched on the floor still.
" Mom? I have a plan, if you could just unhex my crew- i could get them and we could explain this whole mess. We can apologize. Then my crew can go back to our old village, and me and you could travel..."
Your words died off as your mother gave off no sort of response. Too deep in her own sea of misery.
Do I even want to go with my mother? She just nearly killed Alma, she hexed my friends..i mean my crew...b-but they are my friends.. They've been with me more than she ever has. My mom wasn't even right about there being a candle in the first place. It was gone long before she even plotted for me and my friends to come here.
" Mom?..Please, unhex my friends. It's over. There's no candle here. No riches. Let's leave."
Your mother seemed to stiffen.
Slowly, she rose from the floor. She looked at you with a raging inferno in her eyes. Full of hate. Her tearstained face turned to Alma.
" I wasn't given a miracle in my time of need. What made you so special? How come you got such a gift when everyone else in that village burned? What did you do to deserve that? I've asked myself that question for years. And I've come to a decision. If I can never have a miracle..."
She looked at the dagger in her hands as she scowled. Moonlight made her eyes shine as she finished.
"Then no one can."
