it was night already in piltover, the city of progress, where you sat atop a house. you weren't sure whose house it was; it didn't matter to you, anyway. you were focused on the moon, full and bright. you were so attentive on the moon that you had barely registered the words of the man sitting beside you.

"what's on your mind?" he had asked, his sparkling dark eyes focused on yours. your gaze lingered on the moon for a bit longer before you finally turned to him to see him in the same position as you; marcus's elbows propped him up as he leaned back, hands fidgeting with a number of rings in his hands.

"nothing, really," you shrugged, looking down at the metal roof. it wasn't the most comfortable thing, but you didn't bother complaining to marcus. this was your first date with him, his first date at all. he had been a late bloomer for most things, meaning you had to instruct him on how relationships really worked. though he was seventeen -he still acted like a middle schooler when it came to relationships- telling you he loves you on the first week of you going out with him.

you knew you would have to make the first move to be comfortable with him, and due to your wanting to be in his embrace, you scooted towards him. he froze as you leaned your head on his shoulder, smiling softly as he nervously put his hand around you. you scooted towards him once more before you were finally comfortable, resting your head on his lap.

"i don't think i've ever really loved someone," you admitted. "I've dated plenty guys, but they were never good enough. too rude, too careless," you explained softly. "but you're different."

"h-how?"

you reached up at him, resting a hand on his cheek. "i don't know. but i think i'm in love with you."

marcus wasn't sure how to reply, but he knew he had to say something. "you mean, like . . . as friends?"

"no, for real."

"oh," was all he could manage. he still wasn't sure why you had chosen him, and he had the sudden urge to ask the question again.

"'cause you're, like, the coolest person i've ever met. and- and you don't even have to try," you chuckled softly, flushing a shade of light pink at your own words.

it was like you had read marcus's mind. his eyes were wide as he nodded, having the urge to kiss you right then in there. you didn't have to ask marcus if he loved you back - he told you every day. you knew he did, and you knew he longed for you. that was why you sat up just enough to be close to his lips, placing your hand on his chest before leaning in, bringing him into a soft, passionate kiss.

"y'know," he mumbled once you pulled away, locking eyes with you. "i try really hard, actually."
