Chapter 15

This is why I’m scared to be happy. Takot akong maging masaya kasi baka sa isang kurap lang ng mata bawiin agad sa akin ang kasiyahan na ‘yun. That is happening right now…

To think na para kahapon lang ang saya saya ko pa and now… I don't even know what’s happening. In a blink of an eye everything was against me. Even the one I love the most.  

Aki continued to be distant. We’re together right now, eating lunch at STA. Mukhang nagulat pa siya na nandito ako. He didn’t even have plans on fixing our fight! Kung hindi ko siya pupuntahan, hindi maayos ang away namin. 

Kung hindi ako pumunta sa STA, hindi kami magkasama ngayon. 

He was so distant. I feel like hindi si Aki ang kasama ko ngayon. He’s not even talking to me! Something’s really wrong. He looked stressed but I am too! Hindi lang naman siya ang may problema. I’m longing for my rest and I am willing to be his rest, too! If only he would let me. 

I want to help him solve his problems if only he would allow me.

We ate lunch together pero hindi kami nakapag usap ng maayos dahil nakiupo sa table namin sila Kyler. I told Akio to meet me at the park near the school. Yung first park na pinuntahan namin and yung park kung saan niya ako sinurprise.

I smiled at the memory and silently wished to have more memories at this place. 

Nagpalinga linga ako sa paligid hanggang makita ko na nakaupo sa isa sa mga benches si Akio, na paliga linga din na para bang may hinahanap. His face is showing sadness, tiredness, and worry. 

I’m really worried about him because he's not being himself these past few weeks. I am also wondering kung ano ang nangyayari sa kanya. I tried to ask tita and tito pero maging sila ay mukhang problemado.

Lumapit ako kung saan siya nakaupo and he looked relieved when he saw me. He stood up and checked my face and arms. Kumunot naman ang noo ko sa ginawa niya. After he did that checking, umupo na kami. No one is speaking… Silence was too loud not until I decided to break it.

“Akio, mag usap nga tayo.” He just hummed and looked at me. Luminga linga siya sa paligid na para bang may hinahanap.

“Are we okay? Okay pa ba tayo, Akio? Kasi parang hindi na. I feel like you forgot that you have a girlfriend these past few days. What’s our problem? Kasi sigurado akong meron, eh.” He was just looking at me. “Akio magsalita ka naman. Let’s fix this please, love?” Lumambot naman ang mga mata niya dahil doon at agad akong niyakap.

“I’m sorry, love. I hope you know that I’ll choose you. Always. I may do something but please know that it was for you. You are my only star, my only queen, my only love.” I am confused. “I love you, my star.” He said. He sounded hurt and tired. 

“Akio. I know that I said to wait for you to be ready but I can’t wait anymore. You can tell me the problem, love. I’ll try to help you in any way I can.” Hinawakan ko ang kamay niya. Ramdam ko ang pagod niya. Pagod din ako, mahal… 

Pero hindi ko sinabi yan sakaniya. Ayaw ko nag dagdagan kung anong meron siyang problema. Kakayanin ko naman. Nag aalala lang ako sa kanya.

“I’m okay, love.  Whatever happens.. Know that you’ll always be my star, my queen.” Bakit parang nagpapaalam siya?

”And you’ll be my king, right?” Hindi siya sumagot. “Right, love?” I asked again.

“Hmm.” Tango naman niya. “I’m sorry for ruining that night, my star. I was wrong . Iniwan kita sa loob and did not bother telling you that I was talking to Adrianna. Pero, love, that was nothing. Don’t worry about it, okay? Ako na ang aayos nun.” He said.
