I hate writing. I fucking despise it! I'll give myself 3 more chapters before I say fuck it.

Anyway sorry for the long wait work is a bitch, and my only day off is Sunday which is also the day I do dnd. So take this story, I also made some minor changes to the previous chapter, but no need to reread it.

--------------------------------------------------

Deruth and Violan appeared in a pretty simple looking room, a king sized bed in the middle with a couch, a table to the right, and a window that overlooked a single blooming tree.

Violan helps Deruth who was having a hard time standing over to the couch so he may be able to sit. There they sat for a few minutes with her just sitting by and being a simple comfort to him, "She was an amazing woman..." Deruth started, Violan staring at him in shock, he had never once talked about the late countess and she felt it wasn't her place to make him talk about her.

Quickly recovering, "Late Countess Jour?" She asks, already knowing the answer.

"Indeed. She was loved by many in the county, an outgoing woman. When we married there were many of my relatives who rejected her. Saying she wasn't fit to be countess, she didn't behave as a noble should. Always interacting with the common people and not taking her position seriously. I thought otherwise, the people loved her and supported her. She never once made a mistake in her position and held her position with pride."

He stands up and walks over to the window and stares out of it with longing, "When she was told she was pregnant. I didn't think it was possible for her to shine more brightly, but I was proven wrong." he laughs. Violan stands and moves to stand next to him, "Everyday she would sit under that tree and talk to our son. About anything and everything, and I would always join her after I got down with work. She was always frail, so the pregnancy did start taking a toll on her, but even then she was still so overjoyed."

"She must've been an amazing mother." She says, a pang of hurt going through her, but she ignores it.

"Indeed, she was. Whereas most nobles let the maids and nannies take care of their children, she would be there everyday learning how to best take care of Cale. He grew into a carbon copy of his mother, outgoing, and loveable, a little bit of a troublemaker too." He was smiling and laughing when he was talking about her, but he suddenly quieted and a look of sadness and pain crossed his face.

She took his hand in her's and gave it a little squeeze, "It was an accident. I don't know what it was, but she had urgently needed to go to Harris Village for something. It was storming and raining hard that day. I tried to tell her she can wait, at least until the storm had let up, but she kept telling me she needed to go now and it couldn't wait. So against my better judgment I let her go. I made her take some of the best guards and our best carriage driver. Sadly it wasn't enough, on the way back the carriage had tipped and she was seriously injured. Her body was always weak, and even with the best healers and priests, they couldn't save her." Tears were streaming down his face, and Violan pulled out a handkerchief that she always keeps on her and wipes away his tears, "Two things she made me promise before she passed, 1. That I would raise and give Cale all my love so he wouldn't grow up to be lonely. 2. That I would find my own happiness. I was only able to keep one of those promises to her." He says reaching up to cup her hand and giving it a kiss.

"I thought I had time to fix it. Everything was starting to look up and we were becoming a real family. I thought it was weird that he had suddenly changed, but I didn't put much thought into it. There was bigger stuff that needed my attention." Releasing her hand, "I should've paid attention. I should've given him the love and care he deserved, and he wouldn't have felt he needed to switch places to find happiness somewhere else."
