Chapter 2:

"Ahh twins" I screamed. It was true that 2 figures with the same faces came into view. They both had 2 pigtails and short chubby faces. They were also giggling uncontrollably. Well, that was until Jamie gave them a death stare.

"Who are you?" Jamie asked.

"She's Jen"

"And she's Jane"

Jen had a blue clip on her head and Jane had a red clip. I was glad I spotted this small difference because if we were going to have a further conversation I would need to recognize them better. After all, they looked very much the same person.

"They're creepy," Max whispered. We all silently nodded. This was again something that all of us could do. We could all understand each other without even speaking. Our group was formed back 2 years ago and we instantly connected.

I knew Max already since he was in my class. He's what you would call a class nerd. Black hair and super bony, not to mention the thickest glass I've ever seen on someone.

Jamie and Cole came to our class that year and we ended up becoming friends. Soon for a group project, we three were working together when our teacher added Max to our group. And let's just say that from there we were close.

"Okay, so why exactly are you here?" Cole asked. At this point, we were all as heavily confused and lost as anyone would be in this situation. Why were these kids at an abandoned carnival? As if Max read my thoughts, he asked "Maybe they're here to prank people like us".

"Yeah idiot, we all thought of that possibility and it's quite slim," Jamie replied. "Same place, same time must be one hell of a coincidence".

"Yeah but the most probable one". Max said, I couldn't help but notice that he had a tinge of annoyance in his tone.

At this point, I had forgotten the fact that these twins were there and it seemed like after the mini conversation we all turned our attention towards them, then I noticed that they were talking amongst themselves too.

"We're getting late," Cole said glaring at the twins.

"They are also creeping me out," I said truthfully. After another 10 seconds of awkward silence, I gave up the urge to stay there and started up the hill. Soon they all joined in.

Soon we passed the first set of caution tape stating that we were almost at the carnival and therefore to leave before coming closer to the crime scene.

"Wait, I forgot the newspaper," I said.

"How is that important right now?" Jamie asked. She acted like this was some business meeting where we had to be on time.

"I will be quick, just keep walking and I'll catch up," I said. With that, I rushed down the hill and saw the newspaper with my left eye. A surge of panic rushed through my body as I thought as I saw Jen holding the newspaper. My suspicions turned out to be right as I came closer.

I ran towards her, keeping a 2-meter distance. I was getting ready to sprint uphill in case something happened. "Sister, they've found them out" One of them said, staring at the newspaper.

The hair clips on their heads were getting harder to see as it was getting darker. But that was the least of my concerns.

"Can I have the newspaper?" I managed to say. The twins looked at each other in an emotion of surprise. They threw it towards the ground and I winced. I grabbed it and In a flash ran towards the three shadows up ahead. I had a feeling that I should get out of there.

But in the back of my mind, I couldn't help but remember they're scared faces as they questioned what would happen if "anyone found out".
