"Mama, where are you?" Jay said as he entered his parents' house.
He looked around the house for his mom and ended up running into his 17 year old little sister in the kitchen.

"Hey Jay," she said when she saw her older brother.
"Where's Mom?" Jay asked her as she got a bottle of water out of the refrigerator and opened it before taking a sip.
"I don't get a 'Hey sis' or 'How's it going?' You just come in with questions? That's how it is now?" Marsai asked him.
"Hey Marsai, how are you? Where's Mom?" he repeated.
"She's out back by the pool. What's going on?" she asked.
"Don't worry about it," he replied as he walked through the kitchen and towards the glass sliding door that led out to the pool.
She could tell that he was angry and thought it best to leave the situation alone. Arguments between her mother and brother were nothing new.
He opened the door and went out. He saw his mom lounging in a pool chair with a glass of wine on the table next to her.
"Mom," Jay said to get her attention.
She turned her head to see her oldest son standing over her. She took off her sunglasses and oversized sun hat and smiled as she stood from the chair, delighted to see him.
