WHO IS HOLLYWOOD'S
HEARTACHE, MARY GRANT?

Mary Edith Grant (born 1st June 1997), professionally known as Mary Grant or MG, is an American singer and song writer, poet, upcoming model, and what seems to be, a music video producer. Her music has been noted by critics for its stylized cinematic quality; its preoccupation with themes of tragic romance, glamour, and melancholia; and its references to pop culture, particularly 1950s and 1960s Americana.

Raised in South Carolina up until she was 16, Grant moved to the big apple and into Brooklyn, still a minor. Where she stayed or why she moved is unknown to the public and Grant has been very reserved about her private life and situations. She worked in the Blue Velvet Jazz Bar and was discovered by Baz Luhrmann through a viral Twitter video. In the video, Grant performed her most popular and first song, Summertime Sadness. On her soundcloud, named MaryJaneGrant, she released her song Born To Die, which is now the name of her recently released debut album. Her major-label debut Born to Die proved an international success and spawned her first top-ten single on the Billboard Hot 100 with the Cedric Gervais remix of "Summertime Sadness". In less than two weeks release it reached the charts with no promotion other than by radio and was deemed an award winning masterpiece by The Times.

It is rumoured that Grant may be staring in Baz Luhrmann's upcoming movie, Elvis, playing the part as Priscilla Presley. Fans are excited for Grant's long path to fame and are expecting great things from her. She and her rumoured-boyfriend, Adonis Parker (Grammy winner), have both posted on Instagram, thanking one another for their help on set of filming Grant's music video for an unreleased song. From the photos that have been shared to the public, the set and costumes appear to be 50s-70s Americana inspired. Fans speculate that Grant is creating a government inspired short film, reenacting the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

MARY THE MOTHER TO FANS:

Grant is said to be "intimate" and "loving" towards her fans. She shares hugs and kisses amongst the crowds and attempts to talk to each and every one of them. After her show in Sydney, Australia, it is said that Grant took two girls from the audience into the dressing room and smoked marijuana with them until going out and performing her song, Blue Jeans.

Her persona on stage completely contradicts the other Mary Grant we see in interviews and in fan-interactions. Where on TV in interviews we see Grant shy, timid and nervous, always pink in the face and fiddling with the edge of her skirt or twirling the ends of her lushes hair, on stage Grant is sexy, seductive and lustful. Her dance moves are deemed erotic and almost sinful, and her voice ranges from growling deep to glass-breaking high. Although Grant hasn't performed many shows (only 5 throughout Australia in Queensland and Sydney) the reports for her shows are deemed incredible. A reporter says fans were crying, screaming, laughing - having lost themselves within her music, loosing all sense of reality. Another journalist says that as soon as you enter the arena, everything changes. The atmosphere outside the door compared to inside is mind-blowing, you suddenly enter a lucid state as Grant sang her songs.

In Sydney on the 13th of October, whilst performing 'This Is What Makes Us Girls' from her debut album, Grant walked down from the stage and entered the arena with fans. She sang with tearful girls and love-sick boys. Luckily, her fans aren't rabid or feral, and Grant wasn't harmed during her unthoughtful act. She walked through the crowds, singing with them, kissing them, signing their chests and foreheads and placing a kiss on top of the writing.

Grant left the crowd moaning for more, there screams bouncing off walls sounding from outside the arena. Her stage-presence was like no other and some say they haven't seen such an prurient, bawdy crowd since Elvis' 68' Comeback Special.

IT GIRL

Grant says her fashion choices depend on her mood and feel for the day, she doesn't care for weather, she cares for what she's feeling. Despite the rain, if she wants shorts, she'll wear some denim shorts. Grant is a cross between sultry, glamorous Priscilla Presley and casual California cool girl. That combination of retro-chic and present-day typically manifests in '60-style bouffants, flesh-toned lips, cat eyes, and furs, or a plain ole white tee and jeans worn bare-faced. Her makeup can range from nothing to big, bold and glamours. There's no in-between for Grant, she's either in for it all or for nothing at all.

Grant shocks fans with her new hair-style surprise at one of her Queensland shows on the 19th of October. This only raises more suspicion and hope that Grant will star as Priscilla Presley in Luhrmann's Elvis film that is said to start filming in January, 2020.

Joe Hopkins, an associate of  Grant's and a friend of Luhrmann's, says that Grant once said during a get-together that she had always been interesting in acting and the filming industry. Although with little experience in the acting scene, from the latest photos shared from her project with Adonis Parker, it seems that Grant carries great hope for the future in both the music and filming industry.
