Stella's Jaein will not be participating in their upcoming comeback promotions due to health issues.
The group is currently gearing up to release their third mini album, the Strange Cure on December 16th, 2019. Unfortunately for fans, on December 7th, Bighit Entertainment released an official statement that Jaein would not be participating in promotions due to serious health issues.
"Hello, this is Bighit Entertainment. This is an announcement for fans regarding Stella's Kim Jaein's state of health and future promotions.
For those who don't know, Jaein has been suffering from type one diabetes since she was a child. Luckily, she is very healthy, is taking her medication as prescribed and closely following doctors orders but recently, she's had a major health scare, concerning her condition.
On December 5th, Jaein had fainted backstage due to severely low blood sugar after performing with her fellow members at MAMA 2019. Jaein was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. She was later diagnosed with kidney failure and was quickly rushed to surgery to receive a kidney transplant to save her life.
Despite the scary situation, Jaein is doing well. She has successfully completed her kidney transplant surgery and is now making a full recovering in the hospital, thanks to the incredible staff looking after her.
Unfortunately, her sudden health scare has made it hard for her to participate in group activities.
After consulting with Jaein, her family, and medical experts, we have come to the decision that she is in a state of health where it will be difficult for her to carry out the work schedule as required and she should focus on her treatment and recovery instead. We want Jaein to recover to her fullest as she has just experienced a serious health scare and we wouldn't want to rush her.
Therefore, Stella will promote their new album as eight members instead. Since this was a decision made with the artist's health as our top priority, we ask for your understanding.
We also apologize for causing fans concern with this sudden news just before the release of the new album. We ask that people refrain from malicious speculation or misunderstandings regarding the artist's health. Please only send good wishes to Jaein as she recovers in the hospital.
