Nicholas James Bates is a British 60-year-old former University student. He was formerly part of the 1980s Zodiac heroes. His spirit form is a grey and blue dragon.
Appearance
Nick is an elderly man with short side-parted blonde hair, blue eyes and light skin. His casual wear consists of a white shirt with under a brown coat, black jeans and black shoes. He stands on 5 ft 7 and is of average build. In his spiritual state, his eyes glow white. His spirit form is a grey and blue dragon.
History
Early Life
Nick was born on the 8th of June 1962 in the UK. His family is well-off financially unlike his peers who were born middle class or working class. Before moving to Cambridge, he was classmates with John.
1980s Era (Jerry's Era, later Roland and Curt's Era)
Nick joined the 1980s Zodiac heroes while beginning his 1st Year at the same time as John.
Volume 7 (Zach's era, post-storm era)
Nick and some other Zodiac heroes were having problems with their powers. So they reunited in Wales to find the healer.
When the present-day team arrived at Wales, they bumped into some other 80s Zodiac heroes who were seeking the healer, known as Tom. After their appointment with the healer, the woke up at the side of a castle. Then, they went to Aimee's inherited house where they had a battle with a corroded Andrew. Curt injured his ribs in the battle after defeating Andrew so the Zodiac heroes went back to Cambridge and were suspended from missions for a month.
Personality
Nick is soft-spoken and is sometimes rebellious and flamboyant. However, he grew out his rebelliousness as he became a Zodiac hero and is also kind and friendly. He also tends to admire older team members, especially Simon.
Etymology
(First name) The name Nicholas is of Greek origin meaning "victory of the people." The Greek word nike means "victory" and laos means "people."1 Nicholas can also be shortened in many different ways for a more relaxed take on the name.
(Middle name) In fact, the name James means the same exact thing as Jacob—"supplanter" or substitute—and comes from the original Hebrew word for Jacob. Because of its connection to Jacob, James is a Biblical name (two of Jesus' apostles were named James).
(Last name) Bates is a common surname of English origin and is derived from the name Bartholomew. The name could also originate from the Old English "Bat", meaning "Boat", as used to identify a person whose occupation was boatman. Another origin is that which means "lush pasture", describing someone who lived near such a place.
