Akari groaned, placing her head against the wall behind her.

Maybe she read a bit too much.

Specially in the evening with no source of light.

Using her Sharingan after it got dark.

Okay, this was her fault.

But she kept getting ideas for new jutsus, and the one she was working on right now could help so many people.

Kakashi sensei's mind reading jutsu, that he refused to tell her how he copied, helped her pear into a person's psyche completely whenever they were inside her mind. Specifically designed to target the Yamanakas.

But she could see whatever she wanted about the person, from their childhood memories to their childhood thoughts to-

The point that bugged her was, if she could somehow manage to recreate their child versions, which is hopefully the purest versions of them, then they can truly decide what they feel is right or wrong.

Plus chakra connected people... her mother used chakra to connect with her and lead her her Godmother and Eisaku.

She could literally project a person's childhood self in front of them through chakra if she thought this through!

"Captain Akari!"

Akari hurriedly sat up, startled by the urgency in Matsuri's voice, as the girl herself skidded to a halt after entering her room.

"What's wrong?" she questioned, a kunai already in her hand, ready to jump off the bed, before noticing Matsuri's smile.

Ah. She didn't seem panicked. That was excitement.

"Oh nothing, sorry," Matsuri hurriedly waved her hands to make Akari lie back down comfortably like she had been.

Akari leant against the wall again, now looking at Matsuri instead of her book. "What's up?" she questioned curiously.

"You won't believe this, Maki mastered this amazing new sealing technique and she doesn't want to showcase it because she thinks it's not good but it's so good-"

"Matsuri!" a voice hissed outside the door before Akari saw a hand grab Matsuri's mouth before Maki sheepishly came into view.

Akari narrowed her eyes. "So, practicing seals?"

"N-No captain of course not! Uh... well... you see-"

"You can if you want to," Akari shrugged. "I only banned you until you knew the basics properly."

Matsuri gave a questioning look, since Maki was still firmly pressing her hand against her mouth.

"Like all the basic jutsus they taught us back at the academy. Substitution, Transformation, Clones, and then tree climbing. Plus slightly capable of sparring."

"Wait... I can use seals again?" Maki questioned.

"That's your area of expertise, isn't it? Why would I keep you from it for no reason?"

Maki blinked before muttering a small, "Oh..."

"I thought you knew," Akari started innocently before smiling slightly. "Considering you've been practicing them since a week."

Matsuri shook herself free of Maki's hold before bursting out laughing. "Oh my Gosh... Maki... she... knew all this time," she said between her laughs.

They had been living in a rented hotel for the past few days in Yuugakure, after getting permission from the village leader, while trying to investigate the village.
