Loud voices were heard yelling over each other in the grand hall. Cries could be heard in the village as children screamed at their parents if the monster was real.

Shouts came from within the hall. People yelled if the creature was real, and others what was to be done. No one know if what the little girl had said was true or if it was a figure she had created in her head.

The young girl herself was sleeping in Alec's bed. Clean and fed she has serum to sleep. The door was closed and she was alone. The twins were with their father, sitting on their thrones.

The village people yelled question after question at them.

"Everyone! Everyone, please calm down. Let me answer your questions one at a time." Maddox stood and raised her hands to try and calm his people down. They listened to their chief and calm down. only murmurs could be heard now and then.

"Thank you. Now that does this more calmly." Maddox sat back down on his throne. He wears a blue button-down shirt, tucked into his black breaches. On his shoulder rests a fur cap that went to the floor. It was attached by silver caps holding it to the blue royal shirt. His sons were dressed in the same outfits, only their shirts were white. Alec's shirt had little spots of red on it.

One man stepped forward.

"Is what the girl said true? Are there werewolves here?" His hands shacked will he spoke.

Maddox shared a look with his son. He knows what would happen if he said yes. The village went into chaos. So he did what he thought was best for the village.

"No. It is not true. Never have there been wolves here and there never will."

"How do you know," A woman, no more than 16 summers old asked. "How do you know they aren't here Chief."

"We have precautions in case of this. The henbane to keep us safe."

"But what if it's not working anymore? You saw the bodies. What could have done that?" Murmurs of the agreement were heard in the crowd.

"He's right. The henbane doesn't work." A brave man stepped forward. "You don't know if they're back. You lead them straight to us. YOU leave the sea and come back with people. It is YOU that caused this," This man pointed his finger at maddox. Maddox stood from his chair with fury in his eyes.

This man had no right to say this about him. Before he could speak, alec stood from his throne. He put his arm on his father's arm. He could feel maddox shake with fury. The man had disrespected his chief and an alpha. No one disrespects an alpha.

"Do not worry everyone. It was just a bear. I find tracks behind the longhouse. It was only a bear. Nothing more. There are no werewolves here." Alec spoke with confidence. His voice was strong and held authority. His people listened to what he had to say. When they heard it was a bear they calm down.

"I will plan a hunt and we will catch that animal. Skol!!" Alec raised his hand in the air, in a fist.

"SKOL!!!" The village cheered after him. There was no reason not to trust the chief and his family. They had kept them safe for years. They had never lied to them.

People started to leave. The warriors stayed.

"Please give us one moment," Marcus asked while alec lead his father to the back.

Together the three walked into Maddox's room, alec closing the door behind him

Together the three walked into Maddox's room, alec closing the door behind him. Maddox walked over to his table to the left of the door. He leaned on it and sighed. In the next moment, the table was across the room.

It smashed into pieces.

"Father, calm down. He did not mean what he said. He was only scared." Alec spoke calmly to his father. He could see him shaking and trembling. He was close to changing.

"That man had no right to say that. I am his alpha. He should know better than to question his alpha!"

"But he does not know you are his alpha father. To him, you are just a human chief." Marcus argued lightly.

Gunnar, Maddox's wolf, clawed to be let out of its cage. Maddox fought back as hard as he could.

"I know son, it is just hard. He does not know I am his alpha but Gunnar does not. He thinks it is disrespect."

"We understand father, but please try to calm him down before you shift," Alec asked his father.

Maddox closed his eyes and breathed in. He stood there for a couple of minutes just breathing in and out, trying to calm his wolf down. After a couple of minutes, he opened his eyes again. He looked at his sons and nodded.

"Father. Would talk about something," Alec looked at his father nervously. He didn't want to upset him again.

"I know son. I smelt it too." Maddox sat down in one of the chairs in the room.

"What are we to do father," Marcus asked

"I don't know. She has never done this before and I don't know why she would do something like this."

"I do," Alec sat down beside his father. "Rune was to get married to toria. Charmaine must have found them when rune told her."

Marcus and maddox looked alec. They know he was right. Charmaine loved rune with all her heart and she thinks he betrayed her.

"When are going to have to keep a close eye on her from now on? Alec, good idea with the bear. Hopefully, the people believe it."

"They seem to." Alec stood from the chair and headed towards the door. "I will go plan this hunt and hopefully when we find it, it stops all this werewolf talk."

He opened the door after nodding at his brother and father. With that, he was gone to speak to the warriors.

"Father, I'm worried for her. I can not say this the alec but what if she does it again? YOu saw the bodies. She went feral." Marcus truly was scared for his sister and the village. He knows hat she could do and if this is what she did when angry, then what would happen if she got angry again?

"I don't know marcus, but I want you to keep a very close eye on her." Maddox stood up from the chair and walked over to his son. He put his hand on his shoulder.

"Everything will be fine. I promise my son," They brought their foreheads together. Marcus leaned away and turned to leave his father alone. Once open the door he closed it and went to join his brother and the warriors.

Up the stairs, hidden around the door, Charmaine sat and listened to her father sigh in his room. She heard him go grab the table and pick it up.

She had heard everything they had said. They thought she was dangerous. That she needed someone to watch her. She didn't. She believed she didn't. It was a mistake.

One she would never make again.
