Deceiving the Demon (Dark Deception Reader Insert)

After a bright flash of red after going through the portal, you and the man whom introduced himself as Doug found yourselves in the waiting room of a hotel, and out of nowhere you heard the woman who'd tasked you with retrieving the ring pieces, Bierce speaking to you like she was right next to you. "What a charming little hotel... Bring back any memories?" She said as Doug grunted as he picked up a small tablet on the main desk. The two of you walked down a corridor, at the end of which was a Cardboard Cutout of a monkey wearing hotel staff attire, as you approached it, it suddenly Toppled over, giving you quite the scare as you yelped in surprise.

"If you get cold feet from that. Ya shouldn't have come kid." Doug said as he continued onwards, you slowly followed behind him. You entered another area at the end of which an elevator with a barely functional light inside illuminated a large shillouete. The two of you slowly approached as the shillouete suddenly made a deranged monkey screech and the door closed. A little while later the Elevator opened again as thr two of you cautiously stepped inside. When the door closed you heard Beirce say again, "Going up?" When the two of you arrived at another level, the tablet Doug grabbed at the start had now all sorts of purple dots on it as Bierce continued, "Now listen closely. See those floating bits of Crystal? Those are soul shards, fragments of human spirit scattered throughout the halls of this little maze... Each crystal is remnant of one who has met their end here."

"Well that's motivating..." Doug sarcastically replied as you noticed words on the wall saying, 'Break The BOARDS'. Likely referencing to the boards that were keeping you from exploring more of this floor. Beirce continued, "Gather them all, and the Ring piece will be yours. One more thing. Your not alone. There are monsters in here, and they are looking for you. Use that tablet you have to locate the shards. It was left by the last... Guest to dissapoint me here. A very clever Girl. Just not a very fast runner. Enough Instruction. Break those boards and let's get this party started!" Doug went ahead and broke one of the boards and collected the shard behind it before continuing on, leaving you in the main area.

The eriee nature of this hotel left the hairs on the back of your head stand up as you felt like menacing chase music was being played throughout the back of your mind as you broke down the other boards and went your own direction. You also began gathering the pieces as you went, hoping that Doug wasn't in any trouble. Another screech like the one you'd heard earlier sounded out in the distance.

After running about for about twenty minutes you were unsure of how many shards were left as you heard another screech, this time from right... behind... you. You turned to see a humongous anthropomorphic monkey wearing hotel attire and knives for hands, sharp teeth and blood trickling from its mouth as it charged right for you. You screamed and ran as fast as you could, trying to get away from the large beast you were surprised even fit in the halls. As you were running you heard Beirce call out again, "The two of you have gathered half of the shards. I'm impressed. I would have thought you'd have been shredded by now." You didn't take any mind of it as you kept running and gathering.

Eventually you heard Beirce call out, "Are you lost? Go find the soul shards!" And in the distance you could even hear Doug shout, "I am finding the shards! Chill out woman!" Making you lightly laugh and easing your stress levels. After about another twenty minutes you heard Bierce say, "You've gathered all the soul shards. The Ring is now exposed! And all the monsters will go into a frenzy. Get to the Ring before Mr. Monkey finds you!" And all of a sudden it's like you could see a path to where the Ring piece was located. The monkeys hadn't been chasing you for a while so you assumed they were going after Doug. Once you got back to the starting area with the statue you saw the ring piece, as well as Doug in once piece.

The two of you grabbed the piece and suddenly a dark voice called out, "Hrghh... Who dares!?" Bierce quickly spoke afterwards, "Shoot he knows you're here now! You need to escape, get to the portal! Hurry!" The two of you jumped into the elevator in a rush and were transported to the main starting area, where back in the main lobby you saw the portal. "There's no escape for you mortals!" The demonic voice called out again while the two of you ran like it was the last leg of a marathon. Then you charged right through the portal and in a flash of red, you were back in Bierces Ballroom.

You panted your lungs out as Bierce welcomed you back, "Good! You made it!... And I see you met my friend, sooner then I was expecting." Suddenly on a door up a small staircase a huge eye appeared and spoke despite the lack of a mouth, "Bierce! Still so persistent after all this time... Do not listen to her, mortals. She is just using you. Give her the ring and there will be... Consequences. This is your only warning... Help her and you will suffer!"

"Pay no attention to him. His powers cannot reach you here." Bierce stated as she continued, "The ring piece, place it at the altar. Now!" Doug placed it in as you watched on. "It's been so long... The Ring is called the Riddle of Heaven. An ironic name, don't you think? A demons power is contained inside it: The very being of infinite cruelty you just met. Malak. Complete the ring, and you can use Malak's powers to fulfill your darkest desires... or so the legend goes. Anyway, Eight more pieces to go. Are you ready for another nightmare?" Bierce said as another portal lit up. This time with the image of a little girl with a creepily wide grin on her face. You gulped as you were about to set foot into the portal when you were stopped by Bierce. "I would like to see each of you go solo these next few, plus you look tired young one. Feel free to rest a bit. I feel you've earned it. These are more his lessons to learn then yours." She said as she gestured to Doug who'd just set foot through the portal.
