I was reading a book when suddenly the bell rang. I put my book on the table and I went to open the door.

"Coming!" I yelled. I opened the door, revealing Dustin, and Steve who stood behind him. I looked at Dustin who was holding red roses in his hands and I raised my eyebrow. "What are you doing here?"

"This is for you." He said as he handed me the bouquet of roses which I gladly took. "Now I need you to grab your gun."

"Whoa, slow down Romeo. Why do you need a gun?" I asked him.

"I'll explain in the car, now hurry up." He demanded.

I sighed before letting him and Steve in the house. They waited for me in the living room as I went in my room to grab the handgun that my dad bought me after the incident.

I grabbed the gun and the axe and headed back to Dustin and Steve. I saw Steve holding my book and I smiled at him. "It's a good book," I said.

"What's it about?" Steve asked as he looked back at me.

"A guy that turns into an insect." I chuckled as I took the book from his hands.

"Okay, enough of chit-chatting we need to get back to my house," Dustin said as he rushed Steve and me back to the car.

I sat in the front seat as Dustin went to sit in the back. Steve turned the car on and Dustin started to explain what happened with Dart.

"Wait a sec," Steve said, glancing at Dustin through the rearview mirror. "How big?"

"First it was like that," Dustin said holding his fingers a couple of inches apart as he leaned forward so Steve could see. "Now he's like this." He said, now holding his hands about a foot apart.

"I swear to God, man, it's just some little lizard, okay?" Steve said shaking his head.

"It's not a lizard!" Dustin scoffed.

"How do you know?" Steve asked.

"How do I know if it's not?"

"Yeah, how do you know it's not just a lizard?" Steve asked again while raising his voice slightly.

"Because his face opened up and he ate my cat!"

I turned around to face Dustin. "Mews is dead?" I asked.

"Yeah," Dustin answered as he looked at his feet.

"I'm sorry," I said while still looking at Dustin.

Steve kept quiet as he drove the car in silence and I turned back to look in front of me.

We got back to the house and the sun has already gone down. The three of us walked over to the car where Steve kept his bat. Steve threw his keys at me as he opened the trunk of the car. I grabbed the keys and looked at the bat that he was now holding.

***

"I don't hear shit," Steve said while staring at the red doors.

"He's in there," Dustin assured.

Steve gently taped the doors with his bat to see if Dart was inside but nothing happened. I watched as this time Steve hit the door harder with his bat but again nothing.

"All right, listen, kid. I swear, if this is some sort of Halloween prank you're dead." Steve said while shining the flashlight at Dustin's face.

"It's not I saw it as well," I said turning his attention to me now. Steve shined the flashlight at my face. "Get that out of my face." As I said that Steve lowered the flashlight.

"You got a key for this thing?" Steve asked Dustin as Dustin handed him the keys. He handed the flashlight to Dustin as he went to open the doors. I opened one door as he opened the other one. Steve reached across me and took the flashlight from Dustin's hand. "Let me see that." He said while shining the light down.

"He must be further down there," Dustin said as nothing occurred. "I'll stay up here in case he tries to escape."

Steve and I looked at Dustin and I sighed before standing up. "Hand me my axe," I said to Dustin as he handed me the axe. I turned to Steve who was still crouching down. "You coming?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm coming." He answered as he stood up. He took the first step down, me following right behind him. I raised my axe as Steve shined the flashlight, trying to find the creature.

We got to the bottom of the stairs but there was still no sign of the creature.

Steve found the light. He pulled down the chain, turning the light on. I lowered my axe as nothing was in there.

I looked at Steve who pointed his bat at something before scooping it up on the edge.

"Ew, what is that?" I asked with a face of disgust, looking at the slimy skin. Steve stayed quiet as he pointed at something with his flashlight. I looked at what he was pointing at and saw a huge hole in the wall.

"Y/n? Steve?" I heard Dustin call. "What's going on down there?"

Steve went over to the stairs, shining the flashlight at Dustin. "Get down here."

Dustin came running downstairs. "Oh shit." He said while looking at the skin on the bat. Steve pointed his bat at the hole, Dustin's eyes widening at the sight in front of him. "Oh shit!"

Steve flashed the light at the tunnel that Dart dug as all of us bent down to take a closer look.

"No way," Dustin said realizing that Dart did this.

"No way, indeed," I said still looking at the tunnel.
