"And how do you propose to save the Earth my friend?" replied Galileo.

"The IPCC, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, is going to regulate carbon across the globe, and all member states will curb their carbon emissions. This will halt the global warming."

"And how is this done, what is the mechanism for curbing the carbon?"

The Inquisitor rolled his eyes, "Through carbon credits, carbon cap and trade schemes, and —"

"—I'm sorry, slow down. What is 'cap and trade'? — and 'carbon credits'? How do they reduce carbon?"

The Inquisitor looked at his clipboard again: "It's very simple. The amount of carbon dioxide a country or company may produce is capped. Any carbon they produce above that level must be offset or they pay a penalty for it. This will incentivize companies to make their factories greener, or offset their carbon by trading carbon credits with other member states which have a carbon deficit. This will all be done through a carbon exchange."

"Sounds pretty elaborate to me," said Galileo" but whoever said that global warming is bad?"

"What!?" The Inquisitor shrieked his falsetto response, "Of course it's bad!"
