CHAPTER 04

Kuya Ashton left first because he said he had something to do, he didn't want me to leave but I told him I was fine. Pinababalik ko na lang siya kapag wala na siya kailangang gawin. Maeve also went out for a while to buy us food, she hasn't left since she came here to the hospital.

I was just sitting on the side of Adrian's bed and he was sleeping, I was just holding his hand and rubbing it. There is still no change in his condition, the fever is still high. His rashes will disappear after a few days, the doctor said. I was holding him with his other hand because there was dextrose in one of his hands so I couldn't hold him there, hindi ko rin ginagalaw dahil baka lumabas dugo ni Adrian.

Napa-angat ang tingin ko sa mukha niya nang gumalaw ang daliri niya na hawak ko. "Ate Nad," he mentioned my name even though his eyes were still closed. My tears immediately started to rise when I heard his voice.

"I'm here, baby.." hinimas ko ang buhok niya at hinalikan siya sa noo. He slowly opened his eyes and then his eyes searched for me. I gave him a smile when I saw that he was awake. "How are you feeling?" I feel better when I know that Adrian is fine.

"Don't leave, please," I made my smile even bigger when he said that. I don't know why he doesn't want me to leave his side even though I will always stay by his side. Maeve has arrived with two plastic bags, one is just drinks and the other is three boxes of pancakes. Adrian loves pancakes so that's what I ordered Maeve to buy.

"Hindi ka pa ba uuwi?" tanong ko kay Maeve nang nilapag na niya ang pagkain namin sa lamesa. As she said, galing siya sa inuman kaninang madaling araw. Lumapit ako sa kaniya at tinulungan siyang mag-ayos, nilagay ko ang mga tubig at juice na binili niya sa mini ref.

Maeve frowned and looked at me. "Sa tingin mo, iiwan kita sa ganitong sitwasyon?" she raised an eyebrow at me and even rolled her eyes! I shrugged before I saw her walk over to Adrian who was looking at both of us. They are also close to each other, Adrian considers Maeve a sister and so does Maeve. Sila pa nga minsan ang nagpupumilit sa akin na mamasyal dahil palagi na lang daw ako nasa bahay.

One time, I locked myself in my room alone dahil sobra akong tinatamad kumilos. I was just surprised when suddenly someone knocked on the balcony of my room, dali-dali akong pumunta para tignan kung ano 'yon. Then I saw Maeve. I opened it and then I looked to see who was at the bottom, Adrian. They took the stairs to go up to my room because I didn't open the room. Hindi ko alam kung matatawa ba ako roon sa pinaggagagawa nila o maiinis. They only did that so we could play uno cards. Partners in crime sila.

Napatingin ako sa phone na bumukas dahil may message roon. I took a deep breath when I saw Mommy's name there. I called Adrian's name, "Do you want to let Mommy know we're here?" I carefully asked him that, I don't even know how to tell them! They may not be able to focus on their work. Ako raw ang bahala kaya nagpaalam muna ako sa kanilang dalawa na lalabas lang ako. After I left the room, I suddenly stopped when I saw who was walking. Napatingin din siya sa akin. "Hey," iba na ang suot niya ngayon, nakasuot na siya ng uniform ng UST.

Tumaas ang dalawa niyang kilay at kumunot pa ang noo dahil sa pagtataka na mayroong babaeng tumawag sa kaniya. Tinignan niya ako at humarap sa akin nang makilala ang mukha ko. "Morning." He greeted. I just gave him a smile.

Hinubad ko 'yung jacket at iniabot ko 'yon sa kaniya. "Thank you.. for earlier. And about the handkerchief, uh, I'm sorry I didn't bring that." I scratched my head and my beautiful lips turned into a shy smile. Nagtataka ako kung bakit siya palagi nandito.

"Oh, take that," he pushed the jacket back on me and looked at his watch. "I still have class. See you around, Miss," he gave me a small smile before turning back in the direction he was walking. Nang lumiko siya ay hindi ko na siya nakita. I just shrugged and sat on the chair outside Adrian's room. Binuksan ko ang phone ko roon at may unread messages from my friends, pinipilit na sumama ako sa inuman.
