Semaj walked into her high school with pride.
She was ecstatic to start her first day of 9th grade.
Something she realized when she walked into school with Symphony by her side was that everyone was staring at her, laughing would be a better term for it.
She didn't realize it then, but they were laughing at her.
She walked over to her best friend, Chuck.
She's known him as long as she's known Symphony.
They're twins.
''Chuck why the hell is everyone looking at me'' she frowned.
he turned and showed her his phone, a post suggesting that her father had died in a plane accident.
"oh god" tears accumulated into her eyes as she kept looking at her friends phone.
symphony ran over to her friend "i just saw, maj" i wasn't even sure what to say about that "I need to call my mom" i walked away from and opened my phone.
i couldn't even tell what i was pressing because the tears in my eyes were so violent that when i got outside, i ran into robby.
"babe i-"can't you ever see where it is you're going?" i looked at him in shock "are-are you, are you high right now?"
he laughed, how could he be high right now?
"my dad died robby" i confess to him "dads suck" he laughed and shrugged like i hadn't told him my father just died "
"you know what fuck you keene" he shrugged me off
"what the fuck" my mom wasn't answering her phone, she was reading my texts, i couldn't even tell see the read replies but she wasn't answering.
"semaj, honey" symphony's mom was holding me.
i wasn't sure how long i was out here for, just realized that everyone was gone, so class had most likely started.
"cry it out, baby" i laid on her shoulder, sobbing.
CALIFORNIA, 2018
Semaj walked into her class with Miguel laughing together, Robby sitting next to Chuck stared at the two, he didn't enjoy the fact that she was with the new boy.
Chuck laughed lowly ''you do know you're the reason why you two aren't together"
"Yes Chuck I do know" Robby didn't tell Chuck why he didn't like the Diaz kid, he saw him and his father a dew days ago and to see that his own dad was there for this random kid but hasn't seen his own in years hurt his soul.
It also hurt him to see his first love with him.
He also knew that he's at fault for the two breaking up.
''And shit you never know, maybe she just wanted some Cuy Asado and got tired of plain old vanilla'' Chuck shrugged.
Chuck knew that Robby wouldn't like his joke but that was a little payback for what Robby did to Semaj.
