Semaj was next to Chuck barely listening to what the guidance counsellor was telling them.
All she knew that it was for some bullying thing but deep down Semaj knew they weren't going to do shit.
They act like they do but they don't. What pulled her out her thoughts was when she started talking about a kid crying because of a deformed feature on his face and that kids were making fun of him.
She knew immediately that the counsellor was talking about Eli.
He's pretty much the only kid with a facial deformity in this school.
It wasn't cool how everyone was laughing about it.
She didn't enjoy it. She turned around to see him hold his lip.
She was sad for her friend, but pissed after the school.
They then started to talk about the Halloween dance and how it should be in the school dress code.
Like instead of being a sexy nurse, be a surgeon or something.
Like earlier, she wasn't thinking. She was inside of her thoughts.
_________________ "So, what are you supposed to be?" Miguel asked Symphony and Semaj, they were matching Halloween costume.
"We're Black Panthers" Symphony told him while Semaj was arguing over the phone with Eli.
"What's a Black Panther?"
"It's a black activist group that was formed in the late 60s and 70s here in Cali and the police hated them and I hate the police so here we are dressed as Huey Newton" Semaj told Miguel not looking up from her phone until Eli and Demetri came over.
"Nice skeleton costume, very vintage" Symphony told the boy.
He smiled at her compliment.
Miguel talked to the boys over their costumes, Demetri was freaking out because Miguel didn't guess his costume right while Eli was just quiet dressed in his plastic surgeon costume.
Symphony dragged the girl away to go to the drinks table seeing Aisha there.
"Yo" Semaj nodded her way "hey" Aisha and Semaj weren't friends, probably never would but Semaj always did that to everyone.
Just a little sign of respect, she wanted everyone to know that just because she's rich doesn't mean that's she untitled or a brat.
