"Homura, why?" I cried out to the black haired girl, "Just give up on Madoka, you have to let go. I can't go through this anymore, Mami doesn't even remember me each time you do this."

Homura looked at me silently, "You've become more selfish, (Y/N). You just get to live with the love of your life as I continue to lose mine?"

"You're hurting more people than you need to. You can try again and again but Madoka will forever be destined to become a magical girl whether you like it or not.
Better to accept it now than later."
I turned away from her, clutching onto my school bag, "I've got to go live my life, I suggest you find yours."

I heard her scoff as I started to walk away, not bothering to give her a final glance.
I've been conscious of Homura's time looping, every time loop acts like I just woke up from a terrible dream.
I go to Mitakihara middle school, I'm an ninth grader and destined to become a witch just like any other magical girl.
And I have, undeniably, fallen in love with Mami Tomoe.

-(Timeskip)

I saw Mami sitting in her usual desk, the teacher wasn't here yet so we had some time to relax and get our stuff together before classes actually began.
I sat down in my own seat which coincidentally is next to Mami.
It hurts more since I've been through this millions of times it seems.
I could scream, I could shout.

"Hey, (Y/N). You seem a bit down, what's wrong?" Mami asked me.
That's right.
We were best friends. Well, sorta. We spent so little time together after 8th grade. She still has a warm heart.

"No, I'm fine, just tired. I had some wicked nightmares last night. I don't really feel like talking about it." I said.

She smiled at me. Damn that smile, that small, soft smile.
"It's okay, I understand. I have important news though, from Kyubey. "

I perked up at the name. 'Kyubey'.
"What's Kyubey gotta say now?"

"He found new potential magical girls, Madoka Kaname and Sayaka Miki."

That's right, those two. They would bring Mami to her demise, it was all their fault. It's a shame I wasn't able to save her. But I suppose those two were the reason we started talking more.
"Both 8th graders?"

"Yes."

Always going after middle schoolers, what's his deal?

"Okay, class. Sorry for the wait, traffic wasn't treating me lightly. Let's get started, shall we?" The teacher said as she walked in and set her bag near her desk, gaining everyone's attention.

"Let's talk more later." I quickly whispered to Mami.
She nodded her head in response.

-(Another timskipp...)

"So, what's on our list? Are we gonna go after those 8th graders?" I asked Mami as we waked out of school.

"We'll meet them on Kyubey's command, he's probably after them all ready though." Mami said.

We started to walk past a pond, it's the pond we used to hang out at when we were in 7th grade. Always sneaking out to meet each other.

I wonder what happened?
Oh, how time flies.

"Hey, (Y/N)? Do you wanna... hang out at the mall or something...?" Mami broke the silence between us.

I looked at her flabbergasted, at that point we had passed the pond and started to slowly move into the city.

"Y'know, like, at the mall...? Get something to eat?"

I managed to look at her face, her eyes focused on the ground.

"Y-Yeah, sure...!" I stammered my sentence a bit. Why's she asking me this? Is it just because we might run into Sayaka and Madoka?

"What're you hungry for?" She finally turned her head to me.

Whatever, I'll bite.
