Errors Ahead
Suitor
"Isla si Cassius, ayun oh! He's going to pass our classroom." Nicole excitedly told me, humagikgik pa ang gaga.
She was absolutely right. I just sat quietly on my chair and my eyes following his movement. For the past week I have been staying up pass my sleep schedule to wish for the same thing, ang pansinin niya ako. It was luck, he even messaged me without asking for load and whenever nag kakasalubong kami he would greet me first. The week was perfect but yesterday night I totally forgot to make a wish. Nanggaling kami sa family outing and I was exhausted with all the swimming and pa karaoke nila mama na mismong pagkauwi bagsak ako.
"May bukas pa naman." I told myself.
Maikli lang ang mga klase today dahil ang mga guro namin ay busy sa upcoming event kaya naman daldalan lang ang inatupag ko o kaya'y matulog. I could comfortably sleep dahil I always bring a stuff toy with me medyo maliit lang naman ito pero sapat na para may mahigaan na malambot ang ulo ko.
Isang minuto bago mag lunch break nakita ko na si Pennie na nakasandal sa railings sa may labas nag hihintay. Lumabas na ako ng silid para pumunta sa kaniya at masayang bumati samantalang siya naman ay tumango lang.
"This is Kyle by the way." She introduced a guy na hindi ko napansin kanina.
"Hi Kyle, I'm-" Naputol ang ngiti ko.
"Isla Serene Galveo." He finished what I was about to say and started shaking the hand that I offered him.
"Sorry." He slightly bowed his head.
Lumingon naman ako kay Pennie na may kunot ang noo and was giving her the what's-his-deal-look. Ngiti lang ang sinukli ng bruha, tse kulot!
Nung una akala ko sasabay lang ng daan si Kyle sa amin pero hindi pala, he sat on the same table where we were. Hindi naman ako nag rereklamo but I was just shocked, may something ba sila ni Pennie? Kasi the last time I checked Pennie is not over with Perci.
"Uhm... so what do you girls like?"
Kyle asked, he's sitting cross us. Ang mga singkit kong mata ay medyo idinilat ko at sinabay na itinaas ang kilay habang may malumanay na ngiti.
"Anong food gusto niyo?" tanong niya ulit. Ohhhh akala ko kung anong tanong niya.
"Nothing much, malapit narin yung lunch namin ni Pennie." I politely answered.
"Oh, hahatiran kayo ng food?" Medyo gulat niyang tanong.
"Ngayon lang in town kasi ang favorite chef ko." I answered at may ngiti parin sa labi.
"Is there anything you want if ever?"
"A cookie would be fine." I remember mas masarap kumain pag may sweets as an appetizer. "Yung waffle lang akin." Matapos sumagot ni Pennie I took out my wallet but Kyle said no, it's his treat daw.
"Okay you have to tell me what's going on." Bumaling ako kaagad kay Pennie nang makalayo si Kyle.
"He said he likes you and if I could introduce him to you." may ngiti sa labi niya habang sinasabi yun at sandaling tumingin sa ibang dereksyon bago sa akin.
"But Pennie-"
"Oi kuya Anton." Putol ni Pennie when she saw my kuya who's on his suite walking with lunch boxes. He looks he's on his way to the meeting. Mama said kuya is going to have a meeting with an international company.
Sakto ding dumating si Kyle dala ang mga sinabi naming pagkain at ang sa kaniya.
"Kuya this is Kyle, Pennie's friend."
"Kyle this is my kuya Anton." Ang kuya ko na mukhang seryoso ay tumango lamang. My kuya is friendly but maybe he's practicing his serious aura for later. LoL.
Inayos ni kuya ang mga pagkain namin ni Pennie. The crabs look so good! The shrimp, pasta and there's also a sushi and pastel. Shuta alam nilang baboy kami ni Pennie. Kuya handed us two cloths para ilagay sa lap at nag umpisa na siyang himayin ang crabs.
"Kuya You dont have too, naka suite ka na." Sabay naming sinabi ni Pennie but he was done in a minute.
"Enjoy your food, and Pennie uwi ka mamaya sa bahay. Si chef padin ang mag luluto ng dinner, ipinagpaalam na kita kanila mama at papa mo kanina." He said then bid goodbye to us and said that it was nice to meet Kyle.
Nagumpisa na kaming humabhab and offered some food to Kyle, parang ang kaunti naman kasi ng pagkain niya.
Pennie and I had so many chikas but we made sure Kyle wasn't left out. I asked a lot of things sa kaniya and he was responsive, may silbi talaga ang pagiging madaldal ko.
Sa sobrang daldal ko nalagyan ng sauce ng crabs ang braso ko, bago ko pa toh mapunasan Kyle took my arm and did the job.
"Th- Thanks." Nahihiya kong sambit.
"I'll just buy water." Anunsyo ni Pennie at umexit na. We were left there eating silently when Kyle broke the silence.
"Uhm, Isla did Pennie told you na I- I- I-." Sige bess kaya mo yan. " I like you?" Ahh there he said it. Tumango ako dahan dahan.
"I hope you'd give me a chance to court you." He did not stutter this time.
Tumahimik ako sandali, it's the first time someone asked me such thing. Because whenever someone confesses that's just it. The reason why they don't ask to court me kasi daw masungit ako. I'm not really once you get to know me.
I felt special that time so I decided to say yes by nodding.
"But I hope you don't expect that much Kyle." I said, paulit ulit naman siyang tumango and a genuine smile crept on his lips.
If we're going to base on looks Kyle looks more handsome than Cassius. Arg why does that name need to cross my mind!?
I took my phone out when and beeped and kinda shocked when saw who it was.
from Cassius:
So you have a boyfriend no? Ohhh I think it's not. It's just a suitor right?
Lumingon lingon ako at hinanap kung asaan man siya. There I saw him, the only guy I could think about, sitting fifteen feet away from me. Staring right at me with blank expression.
