Adelaide pushed the boat into the water with Edmund, and they shortly took off, Peter rowing. They went along the water for a while, stuck in some small river. "They're so still." Lucy said, looking up. "They're trees. What'd you expect?"

"They used to dance." She said, looking disappointed. "Wasn't long after you left that the Telmarines invaded." Trumpkin said. "Those who survived retreated to the woods. And the trees, they retreated so deep into themselves that they haven't been heard from since."

"I don't understand. How could Aslan let this happen?" Lucy asked. "Aslan? Thought he abandoned us when you lot did."

"We didn't mean to leave, you know." Peter said. And it was true. Adelaide missed her time here in Narnia, where she was valued even as a woman. No man would ever come up to her and physically come at her like the men in the real world did. It was easier in Narnia. She had everything she ever needed in the palm of her hands. Then it was gone the second she stepped out of the wardrobe, or stumbled.
