Johnny was once a happy and thrill-seeking person, enjoying his stunts with his father, but as his life took a turn for the worst he has been turned into a broken man. However, he still has his life for motorcycles and stunts in general.
At the beggining of their bond Johnny has been at odds with the spirit residing inside of him, Zarathos, and tried to get rid of him. As times went by the two finnaly made piece and estabilished a partership abd friendship over their time as the Ghost Rider.
Johnny accepted his role as the Rider, but doesn't judge people induscriminatly. He has a clear barrier on what's missdeeds and what's worthy the the Ghost Rider's punishment.
