Lore walked into the office with two massive cups of steaming beverages from the little cafe on the corner.
"Good morning Ms. Lore."
"Good morning Harry, how are you doing today?"
The doorman to Todoroki agency tipped his hat to her. "It's going well ma'am. The young boss has asked to see you."
"Darn it, Harry! And here I was trying to sneak in late!" she teased with a wink.
"No such luck I'm afraid. He's been coming down every 20 minutes."
He pressed the button for the Todoroki's private elevator. She accepted her fate and girded her loins knowing Shoto likely had seen her on the cameras already.
Harry wished her luck, and she walked off the elevator. She was actually kind of surprised Shoto wasn't lurking in the lobby waiting to ambush her. The reception girls all gave her salutes of strength.
Fucking shit. How bad is this going to go?
She tip-toed down the hallway until she could peak into Shoto's office. He had a phone up to his ear. His white locks hung over it, and his typical pale complexion was reddened. She was glad the rooms were soundproof because he looked like he was yelling at someone. His heterochromatic gaze was trapped on a piece of paper as he continued to berate someone on the phone.
She nearly had hope that she could pass without being noticed, but his eyes shot up to her face in his window.
"Shit shit shit!" she whispered to herself. She held up the peace offering of coffee and placed it on the ledge of his window. She pointed at it and mouthed, "for you!"
He snapped his fingers at her and pointed to the chair in front of his desk. He couldn't get off the call, so she knew she likely had just enough time to hide. She gave him a tiny wave and sprinted off.
There's no shame in a good surrender. She jogged down the hallway being sure not to spill her coffee as she knocked on Enji's door.
"Enter!"
She barged in and slammed the door shut. She locked all four of his deadbolts before dropping her head to the cool wood.
"Lorna? What are you doing?" Enji asked in a rather amused voice.
"I'm hiding from your son," she admitted honestly. She turned to face the man she'd most likely call father. She slid down the door and plopped on the floor.
He was sitting behind his desk typing, but when he saw her sitting pathetically on the ground he figured it was one of those times when he was supposed to offer emotional support. He saved his document and closed the laptop. He walked to his low coffee table and pillow before sitting on the ground. Lore sat there in complete silence sipping her venti coffee.
Enji looked over at the young woman he fully considered his daughter. Aside from her apparel of jeans and a t-shirt, nothing appeared visibly different to explain her odd behavior.
"Lorna? Why are you hiding from my Shoto?"
She continued to stare at her toes as she clacked her sneakers together. "He's mad at me."
His son had his temper even if he tried to deny it. Usually, she was the one person in the world that could diffuse him with nothing more than a smile or small touch. Shoto being mad at her was...unusual.
"Why would he be mad at you? Did something happen?"
Her entire body cringed. "Maybe?"
Okay. So yes. "If something happened, do you not think it was better to talk it over?"
