Pink was never a colour Katsuki Bakugo cared for.
Unfortunately for him, it seemed to follow you everywhere.
From the ribbons tied around your school bag to the glittery pens scattered across your desk, everything about you seemed soft where he was sharp. Bright, bubbly, and endlessly optimistic, you wore your smile as naturally as you wore pink. To everyone around you, you were easy to know.
They were wrong.
Long before U.A., you'd admired Bakugo from afar, but admiration never translated into understanding. Throughout first year, you remained little more than distant classmates-occasionally competing, occasionally clashing, but never truly seeing one another beyond surface-level assumptions.
Then the war changed everything.
The smile became harder to wear. The dream of becoming a hero no longer felt as certain, and the weight of surviving was heavier than either of you knew how to carry. While the rest of the world tried to move forward, you and Bakugo found yourselves quietly learning how to do the same.
Somewhere between shared silences, stubborn determination, and the pieces you helped each other pick back up, the distance that had defined your relationship for years slowly began to disappear. Because despite seeming like complete opposites, you were far more alike than either of you had ever realised.
Beginning at the start of the second year at UA and the aftermath of the war, this is a story about healing, quiet yearning, growing up, and discovering that sometimes the person who understands you best is the one you never truly took the time to know.
Some feelings don't explode all at once.
Sometimes, they burn slowly.
