Author's note

Hi guys. I realize that some dates may be inaccurate, and there may be spelling mistakes, so apologies for that.

You all can have 'always angry' Vance, and I'll take 'angry only when in a bad mood' Vance. It's a fair trade.

Hope you enjoy

October 22nd.

"Finney, are you okay?"

I look at Billy and Griffin, confused.

"Umm, yea I'm fine, why?"

I was opening my locker to get all the books I'll need for today when Billy and Griffin came sprinting towards me with faces of pure fright.

"Finney, we heard that some kids have seen you outside of the grocery store with pinball Vance Hopper."

I mentally facepalm myself.

"They said you guys were talking or something and he looked angry." Griffin added. "They saw you enter a car with him."

"So are you okay? Did he hurt you?" Both of them start looking me up and down, searching for injuries.

"Guys I'm fine, promise." This is bad. I'm guessing one of the kids from the store saw us outside that day. I'm honestly kind of surprised they didn't say anything sooner.
But that doesn't matter right now, because right now I have two of my friends looking like they've seen a ghost. And I can't tell them a lie, because there is literally no logical explanation for going into a car with Vance Hopper.

"Then explain! Why did you get in a car with Pinball Vance Hopper?"

Umm, let's think for a minute. I could tell them the truth, but then they'd also ask how I knew the van was dangerous. I can't use the lie I used with Vance, because that would just get them even more worried. I'm half sure Griffin would probably get the FBI involved.
Although, I can still tell them some of the truth.

"His mom offered me a ride home. Turns out she's a very nice lady, the complete opposite of Vance."

They just looked a little hesitant, but then they just sighed in relief.

"Thank god, I was scared he was bullying you or something. Was fully ready to throw axes." Griffin just said, putting his arm around my shoulder.

"Isn't the phrase 'throw hands'?" Billy came and also put his arm around my other shoulder. Trapping me, or I'm guessing protecting me in some way.

"Nuh uh, I can't throw hands with Vance Hopper, he's like twice my size. I'm throwing axes.

Now I'm either wrong or crazy, because for the whole day it felt like Billy and Griffin were more in my personal space than before. Which I didn't know was possible by the way, so I might be wrong.
I didn't care either way though. Because they're my friends, and the fact they're even willing to talk to me and so casually show affection is a miracle. But I guess I've already realised that miracles do exist.

If I'm being honest with myself. The fact that I was able to successfully save Billy, Griffin and Vance really boosted my confidence. I was never actually fully convinced I'd be able to save all of them, especially not Vance Hopper. But now that I did, I think I could do it.

"Hey Finney, can we get chips, I'm craving it right now."

I look back at Gwen as I'm parking my bike outside the store. "Yeah sure, but no spicy ones."
