Erwin's POV
I woke up and cringed at the bright light, shutting my eyes tightly. I blinked, slowly adjusting my sight and gasped while sitting up straight. I was in a room that smelled awfully of decay.
I groaned as the pain flowed back to my head and attempted to reach for it. Realization set in as I took notice of the fact my hands were tied behind my back. I looked around and saw a pair of legs and prayed they didn't belong to a dead body.
"H-hello?" I spoke quietly.
The legs stiffened and then stirred.
"Erwin.." The voice called out.
"Levi?? Is that you??" I said in a slightly louder voice.
"Erwin.." He repeated, getting on his knees and shuffling to me agonizingly slow.
I took in my surroundings and became very aware of why it smelled so awfully rotten in here. There was a dead body near a gray door. I saw me and Levi's jackets on a coat hanger and my backpack directly below said hanger.
I used my legs to scoot closer to him until we were in the middle of the cement floor. He collapsed onto me but thankfully, didnt pass out. I sighed in relief to know he was safe. My mind pondered around to how on Earth we would get out of here. There were more people than us, and they had weapons. I'm guessing they're metal weapons, judging by how bad my head hurt. I had a sudden flash of hope as I remembered the knife in my back pocket.
"Levi? Are you okay?" I whispered.
He nodded but I could tell he was exhausted. There was a bruise along his jawline, or at least, what I'm hoping is a bruise as opposed to a hickey. A long cut ran across his smooth cheek, dried blood spilling from it.
Working through the pain of my throbbing head, I reached for the knife and smiled triumphantly as I placed the sharp blade against my ropes. I sawed through and dropped the knife numerous times. But, eventually, after what felt like forever, I freed myself of my ropes.
I heard footsteps and slowly scooted me and Levi back to where I had initially been in the first place. I kept my hands behind my black, clutching the knife in my hand. A man with a mask that resembled uncanny valley walked in.
"Oh, cute. Is this why you were in that alley? So you could get to your boyfriend? Oh how I've missed seeing young love." The man teased.
I didn't answer. I simply looked down at Levi's scarred face. The man didn't like this and walked over to me, grabbing a fistful of my hair. My head pulsed and I screamed at the pain. The man tossed me against the wall, causing me to groan. He grabbed Levi by the collar and dragged him back to his corner. I took my chance and struggled to stand up straight. I used the wall for support, approaching the man with my knife in hand.
I raised it high in the air and gulped as it sank down through his flesh like butter. He gasped and stood up straight. I yanked my knife from his body and stepped back. He turned to me and glared.
"You son of a bitch." He cursed in a distorted voice.
He charged at me and I accepted the fact that I was going to have to murder this man. There's no going back now. I drilled my knife into his chest and sliced up through and out of his neck.
He dropped to the ground and twitched a bit before going still. Levi had already passed out at this point. I picked him up and shoved our jackets into my backpack, swinging it across my shoulder. I shook Levi awake and opened the gray door from earlier. There were a few people gathered around a TV and they all looked equally insane.
I bolted through them as they stood up and screamed. I broke through a red door and could feel tears of relief stain my face. I was outside now.
Get away. I have to get us away from here. I thought as I stumbled while running.
My head began hurting again and I faltered. But I pushed through, as I wouldn't get another chance like this. I heard a chainsaw revv up and a psychotic laugh behind me. I had an adrenaline rush at the sound and slipped out of my shocked state. I ran, as fast as I possibly could with all the weight I was carrying. The laughter followed me through numerous alleyways and everytime I thought I was safe, there was yet another person with some kind of weapon on my tail.
Finally, after what felt like years of running, I saw a cop car.
"Help!" I shouted, my voice hoarse.
Levi opened his eyes a little while ago and held onto me tightly, keeping his eyes open for the psychopaths. The cop stopped me and said to stay where I was. He approached me and once he realized I wasn't a threat, told his buddies to call an ambulance and looked behind us for the psychos. They were gone.

I woke up in a dim-lit room, and heard monitors beeping near me. I looked down and noticed a light blue, dotted gown. I tried to reach up for my head but, I couldn't move. My head felt much better. Accepting the fact I couldn't really move, I scanned the room and my eyes finally set on a mirror directly across from me. There was white gauze wrapped around my entire head and my hair was terribly messy.
"Erwin...are you awake?" I heard a deep, but small voice near me.
I turned my head slowly as to not hurt myself and smiled at Levi. He looked much better. The bruise had faded and the cut left a scar, but was unmistakable healed.
He walked over to me and smiled. I realized he was wearing normal clothes. Why wasn't he wearing a hospital gown like I was? He put his hand on my back and helped me sit up, then supported me against the headboard.
"You've been out for a while. I'm glad you're okay." He set a bouquet of flowers on my lap as he spoke.
"I... can't move." I croaked.
"Yeah... it's because you were in a coma. It happens, especially because of the damage dealt to your head. At least, that's what the doctor says."
( proud coma survivor right here 💪🏼 -dre )
He sat on the bed and took my hand in his, caressing it with his thumb. I melted into his touch and tried not to cry as I remembered everything that happened. From the hysteria of Levi's dissapearence to the fear of the masked men, all of it.
Levi scooted closer to me and he could tell I was troubled. He smiled, still holding my hand affectionately. He moved even closer until our faces were only inches apart. I looked at his lips and then into his eyes.
"I would've died if you hadn't shown up. You...saved me." Was all he said before closing the distance and kissing me.
I reluctantly kissed back. We made out until the bouqet of flowers was on my table side and he was on my lap, straddling my waist as he had his way with my lips.
I felt odd. I mean, kissing a stranger. I've kissed men before. But with Levi, it just...felt right. Like we're meant for eachother. He laughed as we pulled back and cupped my face in his hands. He kissed the bandages where my head injury was and got off of me.
"Some...cops wanna speak with us. The guys that kidnapped us are seriously dangerous and they don't know if we'd be safe with them out there still." He explained, staring at the wall.
I swallowed, my mouth is suddenly very dry. I coughed slightly and looked at Levi with a warm smile.
"As long as you're safe, I don't really care what happens to me."
He laughed and shoved my shoulder playfully.
"Stop being cheesy, stranger."
"Hey, I wasn't a stranger when you had your lips all over my fa-" He covered my mouth with his hand before I could get the rest of my sentence out. He blushed slightly and swatted my arm. We laughed together for a while.
Just then, the door swung open and a bunch of kids from our school poured into the room. There were some posters, calling me a hero and Levi a survivor. They gave us all sorts of things to congratulate us for escaping. I could tell the attention made Levi slightly uncomfortable but he toughed through it.
Finally, Hanji walked in. They gave me the biggest hug and just began to thank me profusely for saving Levi. Moblit and Miche were close behind them and some kids got the memo to beat it.
Soon, it was just us 5. Me, Levi, Miche, Moblit and Hanji. Miche rubbed my shoulder and called me a 'hero without a cape.'
Maybe this isn't too bad.
