A Football Game

AN: For reference, this takes place in mid October 2017 (Lost in the Middle is April-July 2017). This is really where my American-ness comes through. I did do some research into whether or not high school football exists in Canada, but I'm not sure if they're as into it as we are (as a country I personally don't care one way or the other, I'm just in marching band)

Richelle has never danced anywhere but The Next Step. She started Baby Ballet pretty much as soon as she could walk and her parents realized that she wasn't going to stop. There are days she spends more time at the studio than she does at her own house. But Jacquie's not like that, she grew up going to the same studio as Davis and only transferred over to TNS when she got more serious about being a competitive dancer. It's why, during the non-competitive season, she dances with her school's dance team.

This is her third year on the team. It's a lot less competitive than being at TNS, but it's really fun. Even though she's only on the dance team for half the year she's pretty friendly with most of the girls and she sees them during the basketball games in the spring too.

This is the first year though where she has people she actually wants to come to the football games she's performing at. Her dad can get a little overzealous with his support, and well, she wouldn't actually mind if Davis wanted to come but she doesn't really care one way or the other if her sister came. Sometimes she'll come with her friends who like football, but she's not coming for Jacquie.

She wasn't dating Noah or Richelle last year, and even if they only come for one game, she really wants them to come. It doesn't take them much convincing though once she shows them what she wears for her school dance team.

Neither of them seem all that interested in the game itself when it finally rolls around. Admittedly it's not super exciting, Jacquie is definitely more into basketball, and it doesn't help that neither their team, nor this week's opposing team are particularly good. Every time she happens to look over at them while she's performing they're both smiling at her, sitting an appropriate distance apart with a blanket spread over their laps, likely covering their hand holding since most of her team know she's dating Noah. And they're still not out about the three of them, it's only been a couple months, all three of them together, but they're good.

As soon as the game is over and they're released to get their stuff Jacquie throws on a hoodie she stole from one of her partners. Honestly at this point any hoodie that fits is fair game for any of them, Jacquie and Richelle own very few jackets that actually fit them properly so Noah's been known to steal one of theirs on occasion.

She gets a text from Richelle letting her know they're waiting for her outside the stadium. "So how did you guys like it?" Jacquie asks when she finds them, and immediately folds herself into Noah's arms to steal as much of his warmth as she can. It's not that cold out, especially for fall in Toronto, but the dance uniforms don't cover much, and it's been a long night.

"You were amazing." Jacquie expects Richelle to say more but she just stops there.

"I was paying more attention to the dance team than the football team, but I thought you guys were great."

"Thanks for coming guys. It really means a lot." Most of the students have cleared out by now, rushing off to parties or trying to get home before curfew. So Jacquie reaches a hand out to pull Richelle closer to them.

It says a lot about how far Richelle has come that she trusts them enough to come closer. Even a month ago she would've hesitated, worried about how it looked, having the three of them this close. Jacquie shrieks a little when Richelle buries her cold nose in her neck. But it doesn't stop her from pulling Richelle even closer.

AN: While writing this I've remembered that I never wore any of my ex's offered sweatshirts because I didn't like the romantic connotations associated with it and that it's a Very good thing I've since realized I'm aromantic
