The dean again took up the time between class exercises to announce the punishment. When he announced Xu Lichen’s punishment on the radio, and then said, “Let’s start broadcasting”, the students in Class 2 all looked at Zhang Zhiyuan at the back with surprise, winking at him and gesturing.

Zhang Zhiyuan couldn’t help but look at Zhang Yansheng.

Zhang Yansheng didn’t look back, just touched the hair near her ear.

When the students in Class 8 heard the announcement, they turned their heads and wanted to wink at Xu Lichen, “Congratulations”. He achieved another disciplinary achievement. They also knew that Xu Lichen didn’t care about punishment or what not.

But today Xu Lichen was out of his usual character, not having that proud and arrogant smile. He cast his eyes on the ground in front of him, as if he hadn’t focused at all, and they didn’t know what he was thinking.

The students squeezed their eyes for a long time, and called him with ‘hiss’ and ‘hush’, but he did not respond to them at all. It made their boss turn his head back again in a boring manner.

After lunch, Zhang Yansheng wandered around the school for a while. She doesn’t like to go back to the classroom and sit down as soon as she is full, especially in winter, when the windows are tightly closed, the classroom is stuffier.

But the other girls were too cold, so they all went back to the classroom first.

Zhang Zhiyuan took advantage of this empty gap to catch up with her and apologized to her.

Zhang Yansheng raised his eyebrows: “What are you apologizing for?”

“Just for the night before yesterday,” Zhang Zhiyuan said, “My mother’s attitude was not very good…”

Zhang Yansheng didn’t care: “Aren’t all parents like that?”

She had seen a much worse attitude in her previous life. It was just a stranger walking on the road. After walking over, she heard her said to her child behind her: If you dare to dress up like that, I will kill you.

“Don’t mind it then.” Zhang Zhiyuan breathed a sigh of relief.

“It’s not a big deal.” Zhang Yansheng said silently.

Zhang Zhiyuan pursed his lips and said, “Actually… I am from a single-parent family.”

Zhang Yansheng slowed down and looked up at him.

“My dad passed away when I was in the 5th grade. My mother took care of me alone, and she never got married again. She just… attached a lot of importance to me.”

“That’s for sure. She is your mother.” Zhang Yansheng said.

She hadn’t taken this matter to heart. Now that she knew about his family situation, her heart softened, and her voice was a bit softer than usual: “You are her most important person. She must have very high expectations of you.”

So, if you are more disciplined and stricter, you can be regarded as an eye-catching person.

“Yes!” Zhang Zhiyuan admitted, “Her dream is for me to go to Q University.”

You definitely can, Zhang Yansheng said silently in her heart.

There is an indescribable envy. She remembers that when she actually didn’t understand what was going on in college entrance examinations, she also uttered bold words to her mother, “When I grow up, I will pass the exam and go to Q University or B University.”

This is an ambition that almost every child would have when they were young. Her mother certainly didn’t take it seriously at the time, but she still smiled happily.
