In Istanbul Engin, Efe (he said if she could be Leyla he could be Efe) and Leyla had narrowed down the SUV to thirteen possible owners. Engin was only familiar with one of the names, he almost crossed him off the list because he was from a prominent family but decided to keep him there to be thorough. He called the lab three times today to see if they had the results back from the curling iron, not yet. Nothing on the prints from the phone but they gave him the phone.
"Efe, can you do anything with this phone? It belonged to the vic but it's locked. We wanted to see if anything is on here of value."
He motioned with his fingers to hand it over, "Usually there is a universal unlock that they give to police departments in cases like this. And no they don't give it to everybody."
Efe played with the phone for a bit and then handed it back to Engin, "I changed the passcode to 1234, now you can get in and look through the phone."
"You know Engin, you might want to check her pictures just in case she knew the guys who killed her. You didn't say that the neighbor told you that they broke her door down or anything." Leyla added thinking about the phone and what might be on it.
"Good idea Leyla. We'll go through all her apps. Efe, can we download anything? Can we download her texts or her WhatApp history?"
"I'll be right back, I have to go get a cable from upstairs."
Engin went back to looking through the texts on Fatma's phone. Leyla watched as Efe moved down the hall, that was a fine looking man she thought to herself and smart too. She shook herself, focus Leyla.
Efe walked onto his floor and noticed that there was someone looking through his desk, "Did you lose something Burak? I can assure you that I have nothing of yours in my desk."
Burak Balci's head popped up from Efe's desk, "Oh, Detective Akman, sorry, I was looking for an extra cable and thought you might have one."
"And you thought that you would go through my desk without asking my permission as opposed to going into the supply closet and getting a cable from there?" Efe disliked Burak Balci, the tech had been hired within the past six months and there was just something about him that rubbed him the wrong way.
"My apologies sir, I got lazy and knew you had some in your top drawer."
"Which is why you are in my side drawer where I keep files? Go back to your desk, don't think that your supervisor won't hear about this."
He missed the dirty look that Burak Balci shot him when his back was turned, there was no love lost on either side.
Efe retrieved the cable that he came for and glanced through the files that Balci had been looking through, satisfied that none of them were disturbed. He had come up just in time to stop further damage. He locked his desk this time before he went back downstairs. Using a small remote on his keychain, Efe engaged a camera that he installed on his desk, if someone was snooping again, he would catch them.
Ceren really didn't like waiting, she wondered if she would be too forward inviting Ferit for lunch. Probably but, she could do the next best thing, she could invite Pyril and get to know her better. She had two free hours coming up so she decided to text Pyril and see if she was interested.
'Pyril – Ceren, I have a couple of hours free, want to grab lunch?'
When Pyril's phone pinged with a text message she was rather surprised, she usually didn't get texts, she was even more surprised to see that it was from Ceren. Lunch? She had liked getting to know her the night before and thought why not. 'Sure, when and where?' She saw the three dots floating, 'Same place as dinner? 1:00?'. Pyril was excited, a new friend! 'See you there!'.
