Eda watched Serkan from the window. From the moment that he saw the call from Selin he started to tense. It was a personal call so she took her shower, when she was finished, she saw that he hadn't moved from the patio. He was no longer on the phone but he had gone over to the balcony wall. Eda put on her robe and went out to the patio.
She rested her hand on his shoulder, he turned and pulled her into his embrace, "Tough call?"
He let go of an aggravated breath, "Why Selin is fixated on me I have no idea. I have never led her on or given her a hint that I am interested in a relationship with her. Today she told me that people expect us to get married. Since when? I called my father and told him to push forward and dissolve the Bolat portion of the holding, I want no further association with the Atakan family. None."
"I've met her before, Selin, that is. Ceren and I were invited to a charity function by one of the designers that we were modeling for. It wasn't a pleasant encounter." Eda gave a dry laugh, "She kept calling me Sevda, like I would be insulted by her."
Serkan kissed Eda on the nose, and then on her lips, "You are worth ten thousand of her, there is no comparison. I'm putting her out of my head, I don't want to ruin my time with you. Let me go shower and change, then we can start our day date."
He headed back inside to shower, he wanted to wash off the taint that clung to him every time he talked to Selin. Eda watched him go back inside. Ceren didn't have good things to say about Selin Atakan. She said that anyone who crossed her should sleep with one eye open. Eda guessed that she would have to keep an eye on Serkan's back just in case.
Engin had started the morning in a great mood following his evening bowling with Pyril, he didn't think that anything could ruin it until he ran into Deniz Sarachan.
"So where's boy wonder? He's got all you doing his dirty work while he's out playing?" sneered Detective Sarachan.
"Why are you so worried about him? You got a crush on him or something?"
"Just wondering why you're all working and he's nowhere to be found."
"Did you need him? You can call him or text him. He's got vacation days like the rest of us but if you need to ask a question you can either ask me or reach out to him. So, like I said before, did you need something?"
He turned and walked away without answering Engin. "Asshole."
Efe came up behind Engin, "Making friends already this morning? What did he want?"
"He wouldn't say. He wanted to know where Serkan was, like it's any of his business. I asked if he needed something, he wouldn't tell me. I told him if he needed Serkan so badly to call him or text him. Like I said, he's an asshole. . . . . The labs came in overnight, I haven't looked at them yet but maybe it will help comparing them to our SUV owners."
He handed the list to Leyla as she walked into the office, "What's this?"
"Lab results, finger print matches, maybe you'll get some hits on the SUV owners."
"Well get all the stuff out of lock-up and I'll start going through it." Leyla waited not quite patiently for Engin to open the safe. Once opened he handed her the file.
She sat down at her laptop and started to work. Engin just looked at her, what happened to friendly and chatty Leyla, he narrowed his eyes and looked at Efe. He caught Efe starting at Leyla with a strange expression on his face. If Engin knew one thing it was to stay out of other people's love lives, yep, he was staying out of whatever was going on there.
Leyla sat up straighter, "I think I've got something. This print from the barrel of the curling iron? Comes back to a Tahir Cayir, he's listed as owning one of these SUV's and my guess is that he has a pretty wicked burn from the curling iron still. Can you pull him up from his driver's license? Here's the plate number and registration."
