prompt: what is it like living a life as a vampire? well, let's take a look with peter and ned!

warnings: mention of blood, brief mention of preying on humans, but overall nice and fluff :)

notes: this correlates with 'drop of a ring', but doesn't need to be read to understand this :)

𖤐 first things first, let's make it clear that you do not drink blood or prey on animals (much to ned's belief at the start)

𖤐 sure, maybe it started off like that with the early generations, but it all changed with an accidental discovery

𖤐 cherries. who knew they were delicious enough to satisfy a vampire's insatiable appetite?

𖤐 the first time peter saw you, it was when he passed you in the halls eating the red fruit, not a care in the world as everyone stared

𖤐 but of course, not all of your kind was behind the new combatant against the abnormal hunger

𖤐 it's kind of the whole reason why you and your family moved to america: to protect the living from preying bloodsuckers

𖤐 but to also start fresh! you can only be a teen for so long until those around you start to become suspicious

𖤐 you'd also move anytime someone has the slightest idea on what you are, but this time is different. you trust ned and peter, and it isn't like they could hide their intentions from you anyways

𖤐 "okay, so if that stereotype was wrong, what else isn't true?" ned had eagerly asked against peter's suggestion to not to

𖤐 a tricky question considering most stereotypes don't apply to you because you're a half-bred (thus the abnormally slow heartbeat)

𖤐 the sun can't kill you, but it sure does feel like it could. upon contact, your skin will start to blister and bubble, but you won't crumble into ashes

𖤐 you can see your reflection. mirrors and all. where'd the stereotype come from? you have no idea, but it was unsettling to think about not seeing yourself

𖤐 the few society had gotten right about you was the agility, strength, and heightened senses.

𖤐 "and that's about it" you shrugged, popping a cherry into your mouth as you observed the two sitting in front of you

𖤐 "that's it?! you're not gonna show us some cool tricks? no nothing?" ned cried out, earning a scoff from peter "ned."

𖤐 your eyes were pinned on peter, lips quirking into a sly smile as you spoke, "I can also read minds."

𖤐 the sheer shock on the boys face was enough to have you throw back your head with laughter. you watched as he made sense of your first encounter, finally understanding what you meant about 'keeping each other's secrets'

𖤐 but he isn't going to complain, because it's been how long since that day? besides, his best friend is a vampire, he'll let it slide just this once

𖤐 he's scared on what else you know about him.

𖤐 lots. there's lots you know about him, but you aren't about to let him know that. you find entertainment in the way he's squirming

𖤐 "ok, so what am I thinking now-"

𖤐 "ned."
