"Good morning, aviators." Maverick's voice rings in through my headset. "This is your captain speaking. Welcome to basic fighter maneuvers. As briefed, today's exercise is dog fighting. Guns only, no missiles. We do not go below the hard deck of 5,000 feet. Working as a team, you have to shoot me down, or else.

"Or else what, sir?" Payback inquires.

"Or else he shoots back, ding dong!" I scoff. "It's pretty self explanatory."

"Elementary even." Rooster adds.

I look over his headrest at him. "Is that supposed to be a mom joke?"

"As I was saying." Maverick says getting our attention. "If I shoot either one of you down, you both lose."

"This guy needs an ego check." Rooster mumbles.

"And a bigger helmet for that head of his." I add.

"We'll see to that." I glance over and see Payback and Fanboy are beside us. Payback lifts the mic to his mouth. "What say we put some skin in the game?"

"Well that depends Paycheck. What do you have in mind?" Maverick snickers to himself.

"Whoever gets shot down first has to do 200 push-ups."

"Guys. That's a lot of push-ups." Maverick grunts.

"They don't call it an exercise for nothing, sir." Fanboy says.

"You got yourself a deal, gentlemen...and uh gentlelady." I nod at his correction "Fight's on. Let's turn and burn."

"Alright Kodiak, you see him?" Rooster asks me. I check the radar. "Nothing on radar up ahead. Which means he might be somewhere behind us."

Before we are given a chance to react Maverick zooms between our planes making us veer off. Everyone curses as we try to reposition ourselves.

"Here's a suggestion Kodiak, use your eyes next time." He says smugly.

"I'll take that into consideration next time, Captain." It's just the first day. Let's try not to get too hot headed.

"Tally, tally, tally! Maverick's coming in!"Fanboy squeals.

"Break left, Payback." I keep my tone firm.

"Breaking left." He replies.

"Aren't you supposed to be helping me?" Rooster asks.

I see that we have strayed from the boys. "Aren't you supposed to be their wingman?" I ask.

"Payback, where's your wing man?" Maverick asks.

"Rooster, where are you man?!"

"I don't want to say I told you so-"

Bradley accelerates "I got your back. I'm coming."

"But I told you so." I shrug.

"Just push your dang buttons, Kodiak!" He huffs. I'm angering him. I'd be lying if I said I didn't like that.

"Aw! But I love pushing yours." I coo.

"Hurry up, man! Hurry up!" Fanboy calls out.

"Payback, break right. Breaking right." Rooster orders and they obey.

"Rooster just saved your life, fellas. But it's gonna cost him." Maverick sighs before heading towards us.

"Not this time, old man." Rooster and I dodge him for some time.

"Don't let him get to you, Maverick." I hear through the headset.

"What is your problem old timer?" I quirk a brow as I keep an eye on him. That is until Rooster heads for the ground. This now feels like a suicide mission. "Rooster, you're too low! Pull up! You're hitting the hard deck!" I exclaim.

"Altitude. Altitude." The voice warns us.

"Oh, sh-" He pulls up and once we are safe a beeping noice comes through.

"That's a kill."

I've been very busy so...
