Unspoken

Memories still linger
Of the the past you and I had
My dear friend

I see all the crazy stunts
Unintentional troubles
Of the fifteen years I called you 'best friend'

My brother,
when did it all change?
From seeing you everyday
To not looking you in the eyes

Now
As I pass you by
All I see is what used to be.
And anger in your eyes

Anger towards me?
Or anger towards yourself?

I yearn back to the days when we were closer than the atoms which hold us together.

One never mentioned with out the other
Now separate.
In the deepest part of my heart,
I know it could be my fault.

My fault we grew apart
But it had to happen
For you see, nothing lasts forever.

But I was certain our friendship would.

Maybe it was all for the best.
Eventually we would have hurt each other worse than now.

An unspoken goodbye
Is better than a forced one.
